The camaraderie between the two rivals is growing to epic proportions.
With the Ferrari team, including Stefano Dominecali, attending barbecue parties and visiting the Hockenheim premises of McLaren's partner, Mercedes, and the Ferrari change of heart in the Stepneygate scandal, all of these point to an era of growing alliances in Formula One.
This friendship is sure to go further as McLaren and other team bosses are due to visit the Ferrari headquarters at Maranello on July 29 to decide on F1's future, Max Mosley, the changes and stipulations sought by the FIA, and their roles.
The meeting comes ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix and two days before a deadline imposed by the governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) for teams to submit their entries for 2009.
FIA President Max Mosley earlier this month warned the teams that the FIA would impose new, stricter rules by 2011 unless the teams came up with measures to reduce the costs of manufacturer teams, reduce fuel consumption and improve racing overall within a deadline of three months.
This did not go down well with the team bosses, and they seem to be coming together.
The bosses met this Saturday just before the Hockenheim race in a meeting held by the Williams team, but they had yet to arrive at any conclusions.
Ferrari joining forces with McLaren and the harmony between the teams could dictate the future of Formula One and also the term of Max Mosley.
Whatever it is, this camaraderie is good for the sport and bravo to that!

Thanks Bro! Nice to know that you McLovers now have to contend with competition from Friend turned Foe Ferrari. I am sad cause I don't know as to which team will fill the hole as to being the EVIL ONE, SATAN, FIA manipulator now that McLaren and Ferrari are beginning to sound like long lost twins coming together after eons. Now both McLovers and FerFans have to find a COMMON ENEMY!

Of course I know you would have an opinion ... That wouldnt shock me ... I think its great we can finally bury the hatchet though ... The only rivalry should be on track ... We are not bloody football fans ! Ha ha ha ... Having teams and fans at loggerheads is just not right for our sport ... There is nothing better than being at the circuit on GP day or a test day or a qualifying day and everyone is flying their colours but there is no gang rivalry ... We just all get on like a big F1 family ... Thats the way it should be ... I am sure you agree my red capped friend ?

Improving overall racing performance is a legitimate goal but reducing fuel consumption is nothing more than a publicity stunt. An adverising line to throw the public. They are aware of image, this is an effort that will take total cooperation from the teams to avoid F-1 having changes which can hurt the sport. We'll know a lot more in another few weeks.
Good article, look forward to seeing more on this issue in the near future.

It wouldn't surprise me if they took Ecclestones advice, and ditched the FIA after all of their messing up the sport.
Maybe McLaren and Ferrari are thinking of leading the other teams to start their own competition.
Lets hope so, "Down with Mosley!"
Gives us the V10's back!

Personally, I'm just glad that McLaren and Ferrari have buried the hatchet. Start anew and with an alliance, they can go to great lengths in going up against Mosley and the FIA.
I wouldn't be too keen on a new series entirely, but as long as both teams have cooled down and are just going to race, that's fine.
5 stars Sarah :)
