The camaraderie between the two rivals is growing to epic proportions.
With the Ferrari team, including Stefano Dominecali, attending barbecue parties and visiting the Hockenheim premises of McLaren's partner, Mercedes, and the Ferrari change of heart in the Stepneygate scandal, all of these point to an era of growing alliances in Formula One.
This friendship is sure to go further as McLaren and other team bosses are due to visit the Ferrari headquarters at Maranello on July 29 to decide on F1's future, Max Mosley, the changes and stipulations sought by the FIA, and their roles.
The meeting comes ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix and two days before a deadline imposed by the governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) for teams to submit their entries for 2009.
FIA President Max Mosley earlier this month warned the teams that the FIA would impose new, stricter rules by 2011 unless the teams came up with measures to reduce the costs of manufacturer teams, reduce fuel consumption and improve racing overall within a deadline of three months.
This did not go down well with the team bosses, and they seem to be coming together.
The bosses met this Saturday just before the Hockenheim race in a meeting held by the Williams team, but they had yet to arrive at any conclusions.
Ferrari joining forces with McLaren and the harmony between the teams could dictate the future of Formula One and also the term of Max Mosley.
Whatever it is, this camaraderie is good for the sport and bravo to that!
