Track Walk at The Monster Mile Raises Money for Charity

At many NASCAR race tracks throughout the country, fans get to walk the track with their favorite drivers and racing personalities. The Track Walk at Dover International Speedway kicked off right after Kyle Busch won the Nationwide race. Close to $50,000 was raised for a variety of charities, from the NASCAR Foundation to Autism Speaks, the race sponsor.
Purple Team Walks for the NASCAR Foundation
Each track walker was assigned to a group, designated by various colors. The groups not only were identified by the charities they were walking for but also by the racing personalities with whom they were walking. The purple team raised funds for The NASCAR Foundation and the group was joined by Steve Letarte, Jeff Gordon's crew chief and The Morning Drive radio personalities Mike Bagley and Pete Pistone.

The Morning Drive Hosts Pull a Dover Drive By
Mike Bagley and Pete Pistone, hosts of the Sirius NASCAR Radio's The Morning Drive, also took to the track.

Mike Bagley, co-host of one of NASCAR radio's most popular shows, holds court with the track walkers. He was particularly interested in one fan, whose hat sported a spoiler, just like the new one on the race cars.

David Ragan, driver of the UPS Ford, gives this fan a thumbs up on the track walk.
Off Track Activities
Some young fans decided to take a trip off track, ending up in the freshly painted NASCAR sign.
Wendy Walked The Mile
Wendy Venturini, one of the sport's most beloved broadcasters, joined the walk, as well as the autograph signing.
The Monster Mile's Turn Four
Track walkers particularly enjoyed seeing just how high those banks are at the Monster Mile, particularly in turn four.
Some Walk, Some Paint
While the track walkers walked, a lone painter touched up the wall where just a few Nationwide cars had collided. It was especially important to touch up the main sponsor of the race, as well as one of the main charities for the walk.
Miles the Monster Waves Goodbye
The giant concrete mascot of Dover, Miles the Monster, waved goodbye to all the walkers after the track walk.
