According to ESPN.com's John Clayton, Miami Dolphins' defensive end Jason Taylor has been traded to the Washington Redskins for...get this:
A second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-round pick in 2010. If that's not a steal, I don't know what is.
I know President Parcells has a team to rebuild, but he could have gotten more for his terrible team's best player. Instead, Taylor will instill fear into NFC quarterbacks, while the Dolphins instill laughter to their opponents.
| Player | 10+ sack seasons | Status |
| Simeon Rice | 8 | Free agent |
| Jason Taylor | 6 | Traded |
| Michael Strahan | 6 | Retired |
As a Giants fan, I cannot stand the Washington Redskins. However, I hope Taylor does well. The lack of appreciation and respect for one of the NFL's greatest defensive players by the Dolphins is certainly evident with this trade.
Sure, Bill Parcells cleared up some cap space and got draft picks for rebuilding. He also lost the team's best player, biggest draw, and future Hall of Famer.
This bad trade—on the Dolphins part—may very well come back to haunt them. Perhaps, Tuna should consult Al Davis about trading a star player for chump change. He would know all about that.

What are you smoking? Hmm, the greatest player imaginable who never gets off the bench and demands a trade or a couple of draft picks? That Parcells got more than a cheese sandwich and a conditional bag of balls is proof that he swindled the Redskins, no matter how well or poorly Taylor plays.

Jason Taylor was a late round draft pick who used to criticized as a "tweener" when JJ drafted him. Now he is a great player in the last year of his career. Parcells picked up a 2 and a 6 (both of which could generate future hall of famers who could play for many years) while giving up a player who was in his last year anyway. If Miami was a serious contender the Taylor trade might be questioned, but Miami is rebuilding and going nowhere any time soon. Rather than waste time and money on keeping Taylor, Miami invested in the future. As for JT, I am a big fan of his and he has always shown decorum and class. JT deserves a shot on a playoff team and I wish him the best of luck. He more than paid his dues here in Miami and he always honored his contracts. Frankly, I think this was a win-win deal for the team and the player (although Washington is not that much of a contender).
