OK, this is a good one: Who's better, Brett Favre or Bart Starr?

In my own opinion, I think Brett Favre is better.  Favre holds the most consecutive starts as a quarterback, and has more touchdowns and passing yards than Starr.

Also, I doubt Bart Starr faced retirement three straight seasons, finally retired, and then continued to struggle with that decision.

Brett Favre is now facing an extremly hard decision—stand on the side-line with a clipboard and a headset or go to a different team.  I believe that the Packers should release him, he's ovbiously not happy with Mike McCarthy or Ted Thompson's decision not to release him.

That's my opnion—please feel free to comment this article.

Of course Favre is better, no doubt there. I hope he ends up a Packer this year when the dust settles, but only if it isn't a distraction and all is well in the world. Otherwise I'd rather them release him and let him get everything he has left out of his system. Plus, he can pile on to his numbers and make it even more less likely for Manning to catch his consecutive starts streak. Maybe he'll even pass Mr. Marshall if he comes back for round 2 er....I mean 19.

    This isn't a fair question, for Bart. He was not as athletic as Favre, he was not exposed to subpar teammates as Favre was. But, the one thing that puts Favre far far far ahead of Bart;

Favre is, hands down, THE MOST fearless, hard-nosed, courageous QB to take ever take the field, in NFL History. Period.

No question, Favre is better. Less was expected of Starr and he was set up for better play action with that great ground game--meaning more big completions and TDs while fewer picks--and yet his TD:int ratio was about .4 LOWER. Even Starr would not says this merits a debate.

Brett Favre was hands down a better athlete and had a stronger arm than Starr.
Bart Starr led his team to numerous world championships over a decade.
People talk about fearing Brett Favre, as an opponent but the reality is that
Brett has often kept both teams in the game if you read the comments of defensive
players who've faced him over the years. Bart didn't make mistakes. He made
more clutch plays in playoff games than Brett ever did. I know it hurts but replay your
history of key Favre moments and see how many of them occur during playoffs v.s.
Starr. Bart was MONEY baby. Not flashy, but he made the 3rd down throws he didn't
get picked off with crazy passes into double coverage. Brett was a one man wrecking crew
and he won 1 championship in 17 years. Bart was a part of the greatest dynasty in the NFL
and he was the key cog on offense over that decade (they won titles with Chuck Mercein
and Ben Wilson at running back for god's sake - they weren't even starters).
Bart was an unselfish player who always stayed cool under pressure.
Brett was a passionate player who often allowed his emotions to drive his on field decision
    making.
It's not black and white given the eras. But at the end of the day I look at all those championships
and the steady presence of Bart Starr calling his own plays back beating teams that were
actually better than them by the later part of the 60's because they knew how to win.
Listen to Brett's comments about his teamates from the beginning of training camp last year
until they got to the playoffs - he was mystified by their success, suspicious of it. The guy never
really bought in. I don't know why. But that never made me feel like he was leading the team.
I'd say Bart was the better quarterback and I realize that's not popular but so be it.
