On Thursday February 4, 2010 the Milwaukee Brewers signed 39-year-old outfielder Jim Edmonds. Edmonds, a four-time gold glove winner, who last played in 2008 for the Chicago Cubs. This season he has something to prove and the Brewers are willing to give him the opportunity.

In my mind, Miller Park is the perfect setting for Edmonds. He hits very well there. Coming into this season, Edmonds has played 45 career games at Miller Park, batting .309 with 10 home runs and 28 RBI's.

Edmonds can still play very well defensively and at this point has shown he still has a decent bat. As of this writing he is hitting .280 with three home runs and eight RBI's in 27 games. Unfortunately his return has been put on hold; today the Brewers placed him on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle. Part of getting old, I guess.

On the bright side, Corey Hart will receive plenty of playing time and has been on fire. In his past three games he is 7-for-12 with four home runs and seven RBI's. So much for respecting your elders.

With Hart off to a great start, Edmonds may not get as much of an opportunity as he would like, but it will bode well for the Brewers.
