Helio Castroneves Leads Sunday Indianapolis 500 Practice

Helio Castroneves remained atop the speed charts from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday in practice for the Indy 500 on May 30. Castroneves, in his No. 3 Team Penske Dallara Honda Firestone, topped the charts with a lap at 39.63 at 227.046 mph as speeds continue to increase with pole day next Saturday.

Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti remain second and third on the charts followed by Will Power and Tony Kanaan. Practice continues this week at Indy with Fast Friday and Pole Day next Saturday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 94th Indianapolis 500 Mile Race.

Jay Howard topped the second day of Rookie Orientation running a lap at 40.39 at 222.789 mph around the famous Brickyard. AJ Foyt IV who is back at Indy this year was second followed by Simona De Silvestro, Davey Hamilton, and former F1 driver Takuma Sato. There is a possibility of five women qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 this year and several rookie drivers should get there first taste of Indy.

Indianapolis 500 practice starts again Monday-Thursday from 12-6pm and Friday is Fast Friday with Pole Day Saturday and Bump Day Sunday as qualifying is cut back to one weekend this year.
