Over the years, the role of athlete has grown to more than just playing a sport.

Athletes of today have become multi-dimensional, stepping into fields such as music and acting.

Saturday Night Live has been known to have the occasional athlete host. While some are more successful than others, very few can truly pull it off.

In honor of 'Golden Girl' Betty White hosting SNL last weekend, here is a list of the top ten athletes who we would like to see host SNL.

10: Shaun White

98089349

The best snowboarder in the world, Shaun White begins the list at No. 10. White dazzled the world with his second consecutive Olympic Gold Medal in the half pipe just a few months ago in Vancouver.

White is not only a tremendous athlete, but has one of the most unique and eccentric personalities in all of sports.

With his long red hair and hip look, White is certainly a different breed. He is no doubt up for anything and that makes him the perfect fit for a SNL host.

No. 9: Williams Sisters

99582889

The No. 9 spot on the list goes to the sisters who have dominated the sport of tennis for the past decade, Venus and Serena Williams.

Venus and Serena have won a combined 19 Grand Slam singles titles and have both spent time at No. 1 in the world.

The sisters do more than just play tennis. They recently became the first female African-Americans to hold an ownership stake in an NFL franchise.

Venus and Serena are no strangers to the camera and have both made numerous television appearances as well as spots in Sport Illustrated.

No. 8: Manny Ramirez

98909966

Perhaps the most entertaining man in baseball, Manny Ramirez is next on the list.

No baseball players in the past 15 years has left people asking, "What did he just do?" more than Manny Ramirez.

From holding up signs in left field at Fenway Park, to missing the White House reception for the 2007 Red Sox World Championship team, Ramirez has left fans scratching their heads for nearly 20 years now.

Saturday Night Live would be the perfect stage for Manny to finally truly be Manny.

No. 7: Lindsey Vonn

98532111

Next on the list is Olympian skier Lindsey Vonn.

Simply put, Vonn is the best in the world at what she does, and simply put, nobody looks better doing it than her.

Vonn won three medals at the Olympic games in Vancouver, but is perhaps better known for what she has done off the track.

She appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated leading up to the Olympics and was also in the swimsuit issue for Winter Olympians.

Vonn has also been on numerous award shows since the Olympics and is set to be on the season finale of Law and Order on May 24.

A beauty like this would be the perfect fit for SNL.

No. 6: Floyd Mayweather

98957331

Floyd 'Money' Mayweather comes in at No. 6 on the list.

Mayweather is the best pound for pound boxer in the world today and is also the most outspoken athlete in sports.

For those who have seen HBO's 24/7, it doesn't take long to realize just how talented 'Money' is.

He attacks his opponents not only in the ring, but also verbally before and after fights and Mayweather always speaks the truth.

Mayweather has said on numerous occasions that he only boxes for the money and I'm sure if the money was right he would be the perfect SNL host.

No. 5: Rob Dyrdek

89439287

Porfessional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek is one of the funniest athletes in sports and that puts him at No. 5.

Just a few years ago, Dyrdek ended his run on MTV's 'Rob and Big'. Anybody who saw this show knows that it was perhaps the funniest show ever to air on television.

He is a riot to follow on Twitter and his off the wall comments always get people laughing.

Dyrdek does some of the most outrageous stuff on a daily basis. He is one of those guys who just can't sit still. Putting him front and center to host SNL would be the perfect spot for him to display his true talents.

Just as long as he can bring his dog along.

No. 4: Danica Patrick

97907388

The lovely Danica Patrick makes the list at No. 4.

Patrick is quickly becoming the face of race car driving and what a nice face that is.

This beauty from Wisconsin has burst onto the scene in the past few years and has quickly made a name for herself.

She has appeared in an episode of CSI: New York and has appeared in two Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues along with being named Victoria's Secret sexiest athlete.

Her appearance on the GoDaddy.com commercials leave everyone wanting more and SNL is the perfect spot for Danica to deliver.

No. 3: Terrell Owens

98579154

Next up is a man never short on words. None other than Terrell Owens.

If there is a camera around Owens knows where to find it. He has made a name for himself over the years, and has done so mostly with his mouth.

Who can forget the sit-ups in his driveway with cameras in his front yard. He made the phrase 'no comment' popular and has even been brought to tears when somebody had a few harsh words to say about his quarterback.

He 'loves me some me' and he would be the perfect athlete to host SNL.

No: 2 Shaquille O'Neal

99283726

'The Diesel' has done it all over his Hall of Fame career. Done it all except host Saturday Night Live.

Shaq has been one of the games greatest personalities for nearly two decades now and he is the perfect fit to host SNL.

He has appeared in numerous commercials and movies, not to mention his television show 'Shaq vs.'. O'Neal is one of the funnier men in sports and always knows how to make fans laugh.

Throw this big man on SNL and fans are certain to have loads of laughter.

No. 1 Chad Ochocinco

99289099

Topping the list is the man who does it all, Chad Ochocinco.

In recent years the man formerly known as Chad Johnson has become a national icon and has made a new name for himself on and off the football field.

When he is not enjoying a Hall of Fame career, Ochocinco is keeping fans updated on his every move via facebook and the ever popular Twitter.

He is currently starring on ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars' and his frequent U-Stream web casts are something to behold.

There is no personality in sports like Ochocinco and he is the easy choice for the athlete we would most like to see host SNL.
