My personal favorite division of them all...
Plenty of controversy, game-changers, and even Super Bowl contenders.
Yes, contenders, plural.
It seems like no one likes the vikes to take the division back even if Favre is coming back. Probably because A-Rod plays for the Packers. And he looks a lot better than Brett. He also has the new best TE in the league in Jermichael Finley.
The one thing that the Packers don't really have is a home run hitter. They have that ability to drive the ball down your throat more than any other team but I feel like that need could have been addressed with an aging Donald Driver. Corner was also not addressed.
I think the Pack's run is solid with Grant, who will return to the top 10 RB people thought he would be last year. Jennings disappointed at last year, but just like Grant last year, he will be better when people don't expect him to be.
It also seems like the 'Dom Capers experiment' worked out last year, they lead the league in turnover ratio and run defense. Well, when you have the Defensive player of the year in Woodson, it isn't very hard. The Packers also have the best front 7 in the league, yeah, I said it. Jolly, Raji, Jenkins, Hawk, Brad Jones, Barnett, and Matthews. All of these players are underrated and combined provide the most effective run plugging, QB rushing Defense in the NFL.
The addition of Bryan Bulaga, makes this O-Line scary all of a sudden. This team is dangerous... Do not be surprised if this team goes all the way. I kid you not. They are bitter after losing that playoff heartbreaker, and Mike McCarthy will come into 2010 with a 14-2 team.
Playoff Prediction: 1 seed; win vs. Atlanta, win vs. Vikings, Super Bowl XLV win over Ravens, congratulations
Bold Prediction: I will probably be wrong.
By far the most unpredictable team in the NFL... but when you think about it, it's only because of Brett the Vet.
This Favre rant may take a while, if you don't care to listen to this skip the next paragraph.
I think this guy's new nickname should be "Brat" Favre. He ruins this teams season whether he stays or goes if you think about it. If he stays, there is no way he tops the best season of his career at 41, even with a solid team. He is not wine, he doesn't get better with age. If he retires, then this season will be crapped on by having Tarvaris Jackson start for such a great team. What I don't understand is why he puts up the best season of his career when he has a running game. It's ironic how having a running game actually made his performance better. I don't like him. I hope he just leaves because I hate talking about him.
The only other possible thing that can stop them is AP dropping the rock. Hold on to the ball, it's not that hard! You're payed millions of dollars to be maybe the greatest of all time. Then you drop the ball a trillion times and CJ rushes for 2000 yards and now all talks of that are over... you kinda blew it AP. Don't expect me to draft you in fantasy.
Anyway... the Vikes have a great team. Virtually every position is filled with quality players such as Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin, Chad Greenway and Jared Allen. However, somehow, their 2 best players will be what stops them from winning the division and going 11-5 instead of 13-3.
Playoff Prediction: 5 seed; win vs. 49ers, win vs. Saints, lose to Packers in NFC Championship
Bold Prediction: Third times the charm... Favre returns this season but retires after realizing that it wasn't meant to be. Childress is fired too.

I kid of course. But Jay Cutler will shock most people by having a bounce back season. Mike Martz coming to town will help Jay succeed. But if this was a long term thing for Martz, don't you think they would have traded Greg Olsen by now? TE's don't really mesh with Martz, just ask Vernon Davis.
Matt Forte will show Chicago his true colors this season, whatever those might be. I predict that they will be that he is just an okay RB, who probably wouldn't start on 90% of other teams.
I have to talk about Julius Peppers, don't I? The answer is no. He will be as disappointing as Matt Forte last season... notice I didn't say Jay Cutler. MAYBE 7 sacks.
Do I even bother doing a draft recap either?... no. (Major Wright is underrated, will start soon.)
Overall, I see a striving team that doesn't know how to finish games and ends up 7-9.
Prediction: Devin Aromashodu will be a top 15 wideout this season.
Bold Prediction: Lovie Smith will be fired, wait a second...
I like the Lions, I don't know why but I can't see them being a terrible team anymore.
The only reason they aren't higher in the division is because Matthew Stafford will continue to make rookie mistakes. And when the QB makes mistakes the team seems to follow suit in the NFL.
I do like the rest of their offense though, Calvin Johnson, Bryant Johnson, Nate Burleson, Brandon Pettigrew, but forget about Kevin Smith, there's a new kid in town.
Jahvid Best will be the offensive rookie of the year but won't win the award because Stafford and the defense will hold the team back. Matthews will win because he is on a much better team. Back to Best, he is the most explosive RB in the 2010 draft class next to Spiller, but if you see my AFC East preview you'll see why I don't like him. A healthy Best means a revived Lions team. Detroit should expect him to be the man of the future. They were wise to go after him in the draft.
The defense isn't looking very good. Louis Delmas and Amari Spievey look to help the secondary while Julian Peterson, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Ndamukong Suh and Cliff Avril help the front 7. However, losing Ernie Sims is huge because now they have two no names at LB. The addition of Chris Houston was awful because he is a practice guy. He looks really good in practice but always seems to get burned in games. A good example of this is Fred Thomas of the Saints a couple years back.
I'm excited about the Lions. They seem to have a lot of pieces together, but it should take a year or two to get them all together. So, until then I expect a 5-11 season from the Motor City.
Prediction: Ndamukong Suh wins defensive ROY
Bold Prediction: Calvin Johnson has a comeback season, but no one seems to remember him ever leaving.
