Some ideas for how to Dolphins can manage a 2010 playoff run. Possibly Super Bowl contenders. T
he Dolphins aren't considered a true playoff team.. yet, but look at what we did in 2008 coming off of a 15-1 season. They fell back a little in 2009 mainly due to the lack of playmakers and injuries.
No specific order.
ENJOY!
The Quarterback Position
The Miami Dolphins currently have Chad Henne, Pat White, Chad Pennington, and Tyler Thigpen on the QB roster.
Chad Henne showed quite a bit of potential to be a true NFL quarterback. He has the arm power, and the nerves in the pressure situations. I'm not on the Henne bandwagon yet, due to the fact that he made many interceptions last season costing the team wins. I saw a lot of potential as well. 2010 will determine how Henne pans out.
Pennington was a good resign. He definitely has the leadership to mold the youngsters.
Pat White showed potential. Dolphans put him down for not completing a pass last season, but he only had 5 attempts. I believe this kid will show quite to prove a lot of you Dolphin fans wrong. I could go on and on why he still has value.
Tyler Thigpen is a mystery at this point. What is Miami going to do with him? It seems like the Dolphins organization wants to work more with Pat White. I'm not sure about this guys future.
The Secondary
The Miami Dolphins have a young secondary with some players that hold true value.
Vontae Davis and Sean Smith played great rookie seasons this past year and showed a lot for the Dolphins to work with. There is also Will Allen who is very solid.
The Dolphins have Yeremiah Bell at Strong Safety. This guy makes plays. Interceptions, but more importantly key tackles. He made one tackle vs. NE this past year saving the game win.
Free Safety is the question mark at this point. Who will step up for this role? Culver, Clemons, or newly acquired Reshad Jones. Time will tell.
Overall, this secondary will improve the Dolphins passing defense immediately this year.
Free Agency Additions
The 2 biggest names that shout out are Brandon Marshall and Karlos Dansby.
These 2 key guys instantly improve the Defense and Offense.
Brandon Marshall opens up big play abilities as well as a big target for Chad Henne.
Karlos Dansby will help our run defense as well as getting pressure on the QB.
These 2 will add even more hope to the playoff run in 2010.
Get ready to here it... Henne steps back, throws, he's got a man, Brandon Marshall! The 40, the 30, the 20, the 10, 5, Touchdown MIAMI DOLPHINS!
Defensive Draft
The Miami Dolphins went into the draft with holes on Defense. Boy, did they get a lot of defensive players.
What I liked most about this years draft was the fact that a lot of these players were captains, and contained leadership abilities. This will add more class to the Dolphins roster.
Also with duplicating positions (LB) if one player is a bust, that other guy you got the next round may just hold great NFL potential.
Mike Nolan
I am extremely happy with this coach addition.
He improved Denvers defense dramatically in only 1 year.
Especially with all the new additions on defense, Nolan will have a lot of people to work with.
I hope our defense will go up in status cutting down on the number of touchdowns that were put up against the Saints, Colts, Chargers, etc.
Watch the Dolphins defense improve under this new coach.
People back and Healthy
Ronnie Brown will be back and healthy and ready to go for the start of the 2010 season! Hopefully the wildcat will be back and we can get off to a head start and try to beat these tough teams Miami faces in the 1st half of the season.
Chad Pennington, Ronnie Brown, Channing Crowder, Patrick Cobbs, and more.
Injuries killed the Dolphins last year and having all these players back and healthy will help the Dolphins to success.
If the Dolphins can get through the beginning of the season with these key players, then if they do get hurt for some of the easier games, we might still be fine.
Put it all together
New dynamic players, holes definitely filled on defense, a tough and enthusiastic team, big playmakers, healthy players, the Dolphins have a great chance at playoff run.
This coaching staff knows what they are doing and if they can create some new plays in the wildcat, mold some players, you won't be disappointed Dolphans. You can look forward to an exciting 2010-11 season!
