IconThanks for nothing, Chuck.

I sent Chuck Liddell a 27-page packet of dynamite information going, all the way back to 1948. It was full of information on how fighters trained and all their little secrets.

I really put a ton of work into this packet, and the freakin' bum didn't even say thanks. 45 years of my life

He says, "Why change your routine if that's what got you there?" An airheaded statement from a smart man. You never stop learning, Chuck.

For him to win, he must swarm and overpower his opponent. He's a hard hitter so he must wait for his opponents to cover and then pick them apart. He has to be like Marciano and swarm his opponents right away, throw everything at them but the kitchen sink, not give fighters like Silva or Jackson any time to think.

Who ever got that packet is going to be a winner—given, of course, their GOD given abilities. Chuck, if you didn’t get the packet someone in your crew is a RAT Bast*rd.

I have changed my opinion on most MMA fighters except Randy Couture. I thought after his losses to Chuck he was through. But when he took on Silva...wow. Was I wrong or what?

Couture threw Sylvia all over the ring. It was almost look comical the way Randy handled him. Couture then took on Gabriel Gonzaga, who almost took Mirkos' head off, and it was a blood bath.

Randy, you‘re the best…and that is something coming from me.

Couture will go down as the number fighter of all time. Still going at 44, he is the new Marciano. They all said Marciano only beat old men—however, my friends, Joe Louis was 36, Jersey Joe was 37, Archie was 41—and he crushed them all.

Don't ever tell me about age. I argued this in bars in Brooklyn for decades, saying age don't mean sh*t in boxing. You never lose your punch, and you never lose your chin. All these fighters were great shape before their fight with Marciano, the GREATEST EVER.

Icon Sports MediaNow Randy Couture is the GREATEST EVER.

I’ll say it again: no one can beat a guy with a granite chin, a guy who never tires, who punches heavy with both hands, who throws over 80-100 punches a round, who, when  he's knocked down, gets right back up and goes after his opponent.

That's why no one can beat a swarmer. Joe Louis agreed. He had just one fault—he never liked being crowed.

Muhammad Ali only said sorry once in his life, and that was to Marciano. He was a pallbearer at Rocky's funeral. He said Marciano was the only white fighter he ever liked—and Ali knew who was great.

  1. Frank, a great article! Your take on Coutore is spot on. When I watched what most of us thought to be his last fight against Chuck, he looked like he was really going to hang it up for good. Luckily for the sport, he didn't. I think all we can do now is hope that Dana does the right thing and honors him with a well-deserved pay day and we can get him back in the ring. If nothing else, we can guarantee that Randy is going to bestow his great ring knowledge and technique to some up-and-coming fighters, so that his skills and hopefully some of his famous work ethic are still present in the sport for years to come.

  2. A very good article and the picture with it looks appropriate too.
