The Barcelona No. 1 has been added to the Spanish Preliminarily Squad of 30 by national coach Del Bousque.

Valdez hasn't played for the Spanish first team as yet, although his performed so well for his club, now he gets a chance to prove himself but will he make the cut as only three can go to South Africa.

Two of the three are already certain in my opinion, Iker Cassillas and Pepe Reina. While Valdes would be the next best and when compared to the other two in Diego Lopez (Villarreal) and David De Gea (Athletico Madrid).

If it were up to me, Valdes would be Spain's No. 1, but Cassillas has been there for some time now and hasn't faulted, so why change it? But it's good to see Victor getting his chance, and all hopes that he will be on the plane to South Africa.

Spain has a moderately easy group with Honduras, Switzerland, and Chile.
