Today, New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced that the Rangers had come to terms with free agent defenseman Brian Fahey.
The 27-year-old AHL veteran has skated in over 249 games with teams such as the Worcester Ice Cats, Hersey Bears, Iowa Stars, and the Chicago Wolves, most recently. In that time he has tallied 31 goals and 57 assists for 88 points and 298 penalty minutes.
It's not clear what the Rangers' motive was for signing him, but he could very well be a seventh defenseman for the big club, or a replacement for former Hartford Wolf Pack (Rangers' AHL affiliate) captain Andrew Hutchinson, who left via free-agency in the last few weeks.

its an ahl signing to help the pack out and add some leadership down there. the rangers already have 3 maybe 4 players who are close if not nhl ready. its a minor signing and he is most likely going to replace hutch. sanguinetti, potter, sauer and maybe pock are in the rangers plan on D. if all fail then a guy like fahey or somebody else will get a look.

Thanks for telling me I got the name wrong. For some reason the name Jeff was in my mind. Perhaps there was a Jeff Fahey who was a hockey player but IDK...
