After a four-day layoff, with an All-Star Game mixed in, the Phillies finally return to action tonight as they take on the Florida Marlins, down in Miami. The Phils head into play tonight in a dead heat for first with the Mets, who scored four runs in the ninth last night against the Reds to win their 10th straight.
The Marlins have been hanging around the top of the division all season long and sit just 1.5 games back of both teams.
Going for the fish tonight will be surprising RHP Ricky Nolassco, who is 10-4 with a 3.70 ERA. He'll be opposed by the guy with slowest fastball in baseball, 45-year old Jamie Moyer.
To everyone's surprise, Moyer continues to keep the Phillies in games and is 8-6 overall, with an ERA of 3.95. He has been dazzling in two starts so far in July. Not to mention, in his last start in Florida, he pitched eight shutout innings vs. the Marlins, allowing just two hits and a walk.
Ok, now that you're bored from the typical game-day preview, how about some PREDICTIONS!
Rollins and Burrell will have the biggest games tonight for the Phillies. Mike Jacobs will do the most damage for the Marlins.
Phillies win 5-3 and stay in first place, where they have been for the past six weeks.
Tomorrow is a late-afternoon game on FOX; with the typical 3:55 PM EST start time. Kyle Kendrick vs. Scott Olsen. On Sunday, Cole Hamels goes against Josh Johnson.
