I saw that somebody did there top 10 Wrestlemanias ever, I disagreed with a few of them and thought I'd do a list of the worst Wrestlemanias.
The Wrestlemanias listed are one's that I feel were just plain boring or had nothing that seperated it from any other PPV. There is one I here that I was just disappointed with, there are plenty of those, but the whole PPV with the exception of one match, was a complete disappointment.
New England Patriots
Over/Under- 11 wins
With all the moves the Jets made many so called experts now have the Jets as the team to beat in the AFC East, not me. So long as the Patriots have Tom Brady and Bill Billicheck they are the team to beat. I set the over/under at 11, I think the Patriots will finish under 11-5 and see them going 10-6. The division has gotten better, the whole AFC got better and the Patriots didn't do much to improve in FA or the Draft.
New York Jets
Over/Under- 11 wins
The reason I put the Jets at 11 is all the so called experts think the Jets have overtaken the Patriots, I don't, but I do think they have gained ground. If Mark Sanchez improves the team can win 11, but I don't think he will improve that much. I still see the Jets winning 10, but if Sanchez regresses they will struggle to finish .500
Over/Under- 9 wins
The Dolphins have added two solid pieces in Dansby and Marshall and I really like the Odrick pick, however they have to hope Henne is the guy. I think he will be fine and the Dolphins will be improved over last years team. I have the Dolphins finishing at 9-7, so I think this will be a push, if I had to chose one I would say it is more likely they finish 8-8 then 10-6.
Over/Under- 5 Wins
I do like some of what the Bills have done this off-season, they really haven't improved in two key areas, O-line and QB. I think the Bills Defense will be solid and could likely finish in the top ten, but there offense is in shambles. Spiller is a home run threat, but outside of him the Bills don't have much and will likely finish in the bottom five. I say the Bills finish 4-12.
The reason this is on here a major disappointment. All three title matches were terrible, HHH vs. Orton tried to catch your attention with quick finishers, but failed. Cena vs. Edge vs. Show should have just been Cena and Edge, I hate triple threats at Mania and this match was terrible. Even the IC title match was bad, Rey coming out dressed as joker and the match lasting maybe 30 seconds. This was probably the most disappointed I have ever been for a Mania.
If not for Taker and HBK this would probably be #1 on this list, at least I wasn't expecting anything great with the other ones on this list.
The main event was solid, despite the fact that everyone knew Austin was going to win, usually that bothers me but then I think back and most Wrestlemanias main events you know who will win.
The reason this makes the list is I can't think of any other match that stood out to me. Taker vs. Bossman was bad, HHH vs. Kane wasn't very good nor was any other match.
I was thinking this was the worst, not one singles match at all, all tag matches, except for a triple threat and a fatal four way elimination. No Austin, no Taker either, two top main event guys that couldn't make it, thanks to injuries.
I thought the main event was great, I forgot this was the Mania with the tag team ladder match, which saved this from being #1. If not for that match along with a solid main event, this would have been #1. The real reason this is even on here though is no singles matches.
This probably wouldn't make the list if they had put Nash vs. HBK on last, but they didn't, they put a mid-card guy in Bam Bam Bigelow against LT in the main event. That's not the only reason this makes the list but it is the biggest reason. Another reason, Taker vs Bundy ends with a clothesline, Bret Hart vs. Bob Backlund for the 100th time that year and the tag team of Luger and the Bulldog vs. Jacob and Eil Blu.
Nice way to take three main event guys in Luger, Hart and Taker and push them to the bottom of the card while Bam Bam gets the main event. I try and think of one good thing that happened that night and I can't think of anything, I guess Michaels putting himself in the title hunt counts.
The worst Wrestlemania ever in my book is IX. I'll start from the top, Michaels vs. Tatanka was boring and ended in a count out.
Steiners vs. Samoans, yeah half hour of boredom. One of the worst tag matches in the history of Wrestlemaina, I'm sure for those two teams it was the worst.
Taker vs. Giant Gonzales, this one at least had two big men, but ended on a DQ because of towel with chloroform. Crush vs. Doink, yeah there you go.
Hogan, Beefcake vs. Money Inc. ends in DQ and had a way to long aftermath, not entertaining at all. Luger vs. Mr. Perfect could have been the best match of the night, but it too came up short in expectations. The Main Event saw Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna, ended with Mr. Fuji throwing salt in Brets eyes and Yokozuna scoring the victory. Then challenges Hogan who beats Zuna in about 20 seconds. What really gets me is there was no reason the WWF couldn't have kept Ric Flair for another month to have him headline Mania against either Hart or Hogan. Just plain sucked.
These Manias all fell short of expectations, but at least had something that kept it off the list.
13- Taker wins belt, Hart vs. Austin, where Austin era really started
2- Three different venues, Steel cage main event
1- First ever Mania
7- Good Undercards
18- Hogan vs. Rock and Flair vs. Taker
