The Bucks have signed center Andrew Bogut (7-0, 260) to a multi-year contract extension today. Entering his fourth NBA season, Bogut has averaged 11.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 blocked shot in 226 career games.
"Andrew has worked very hard to develop into one of the top young centers in the league," said Hammond." He is a very important part of what we are doing in Milwaukee and we're excited to announce his contract extension."
Bogut, 23, enjoyed a breakout season for the Bucks last year, posting career-high averages of 14.3 points, 9.8 rebounds (T-11th in NBA), and 1.7 blocks (9th in NBA) in 34.9 minutes per game. He scored double-digits in 63 games and grabbed ten or more rebounds in 39 games. His 38 double-doubles were tops on the club and ranked 12th best in the NBA. Bogut had 40 games with multiple blocked shots, including 14 games with four or more blocks. He also led the Bucks by playing in 78 games (78 starts).
My Take
Bogut certainly deserved this extension after his breakout year last season. While he wasn't spectacular, he showed a lot of potential. He played very consistently last season, and should be very fun to watch this upcoming season.
