Everyone hates the Yankees! Here's my take on how the world sees the Yankees and Red Sox. (And yes, this post is intended to be sarcastic.)
If Red Sox fans boo rival players, they're passionate.
If Yankee fans boo rival players, they're immature.
When the Red Sox buy their team, they're using strategy.
When the Yankees buy their team, they're picking on the little guy.
When a Red Sox player does something stupid, it's just Manny being Manny.
When a Yankee player does something stupid, he's a jackass.
When the Red Sox don't win a title for 86 years, they blame it on a curse.
When the Yankees don't win a title in seven years, they suck.
When the Red Sox win the World Series, everyone forgets that they missed the playoffs the year before.
When the Yankees get knocked out of the playoffs, everyone forgets that they've won six pennants and four titles since 1996, and that they haven't missed the playoffs since '93.
When the Red Sox struggle, they're slumping.
When the Yankees struggle, they're bad.
When a Red Sox player makes a flat-out dumb comment, slighting the best reliever in history, it's "blown out of proportion."
If a Yankee player were to make a similarly dumb comment, it's completely uncalled for.
If the Red Sox were to have an All Star Game Ceremony to commemorate their soon-to-close legendary stadium, it would be inspirational.
When the Yankees have an All Star Game Ceremony to commemorate their soon-to-close legendary stadium, they're "obnoxious."
