New Season, New Kit, Another £45
I for one, am very excited about the approaching season, and why shouldn't I be?
Its been weeks since Euro 2008! Well a couple anyway.
Football runs in my blood and as many of you know, my blood is blue.
For £45 though, I won't be wearing the new Glasgow Rangers home kit any time soon. At least, not until they've reduced the price a bit.
Three seasons in a row now they've changed the clubs signature kit, and this time it's getting pricey.
What happened to kits lasting two seasons?
Don't get me wrong, I love owning the jersey and I will buy it eventually, but when I saw the £44.99 price tag, I felt a bit uneasy.
Simply, I felt I was being taken advantage of.
As of recently tops went for £34.99 and many still do. It's not like the Rangers fans are getting any richer, is it?
Don't let your kids see the name and number section either!
Only Celtic fans will lose their houses over Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink mind you.
I understand the club must make money to compete at the level we (the fans) want them to compete, but it doesn't stop me feeling a little let down by modern football as a whole or voicing my opinion on the subject.
It is said this is just a game?
I think not.
Don't think I'm having a go at Rangers FC, they are just one of many clubs doing exactly the same thing, and you can't blame them either.
That is modern football.
You don't need the jersey to support your team. You don't need to wear it when you're standing in the terraces, but it sure is nice isn't it?
It's just that, who rolls with these punches and do all they can to support their beloved clubs?
THE FANS
So simply put, we're being ripped off. But at least we're all being ripped off together!
You'll never walk alone, as some might say.
