Making The Tag: Top 10 WWE Tag Teams Of All Time

WWE has seen its share of great tag teams come and go throughout the years. The tag team division isn't what it used to be, but it is still alive, barely.

Recently, The Miz proclaimed ShoMiz the greatest tag team of all time. Which got me thinking, who is the greatest WWF tag team of all time? We all know it isn't Big Show and The Miz, at least, I don't think it is. So lets travel back to the glory days of wrestling, combined with the new generation in wrestling and see who makes the cut.

10. The British Bulldogs (Dynamite Kid, Davey Boy Smith)

After Vince McMahon bought out Canada's Stampede Wrestling in 1984, The British Bulldogs became a part of the World Wrestling Federation.

After a fued with the Hart Foundation, it was onto Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake and a shot for the tag team titles. A match at Wrestlemania 2 would be their last chance at the belts. They cashed in, and won the titles on the grandest stage of them all.

After an back injury to Dynamite Kid, British Bulldog was forced to find a replacement partner. Davey Boy Smith ended up dropping the tag titles to the Hart Foundation.

The 1988 Survivor Series would be the last pay per view for the British Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs only carried the titles one time when they won them at WrestleMania 2, but they held them for nearly an entire year.

9. The Rockers

Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels were a high flying tag team in the late 80's into the early 90's.

Though they never won the gold, thanks to politics and a top rope breaking, they were a very successful and remembered tag team in the WWE.

The Rockers would fued with the likes of the Brian Busters, Rougeau Brothers, Hart Foundation and Orient Express.

The most famous moment of these two would be the breakup on Brutus Beefcake's Barber Shop in 1992. Michaels superkicked Jannetty in the face and put him through the glass window of the set.

8. Wild Samoans

Afa and Sika, the Wild Samoans, were inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.

The two rarely spoke, and had their manager, the late Captian Lou Albano do the speaking for them.

Though they carried over 21 titles from around the world at one-time, they held the WWE tag titles on three different occasions.

The duo was together for around twenty years and were trained by Dwayne Johnson's grandfather, Peter Maivia.

The two brothers, who are the exact same height, are both residing in Florida now.

7. New Age Outlaws

"Oh, you didn't know?!"

The lude and crude duo who got together through the DX stable, had an amazing run as a tag team in the WWF.

The Road Dogg Jesse James and Billy Gunn defeated Legion of Doom in November of 1997 to win their first of five tag team titles.

The two would go their own way for around a year between 1998 and 1999, but reunitued for a few years before a Billy Gunn arm injury would be the final blow to the duo. It is a shame these two broke off just before the days of the TLC match were born.

They continued to wrestle together in TNA, and now, on the Indy circuit.

6. Hardy Boyz

Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy, brothers from a small town North Carolina. With big dreams and heavy hearts, they achieved a lot together in the world of professional wrestling.

Well before their days as solo competitors in the WWE, they were a very successful tag team, for a very long time.

They would hold the title on six different occasions and drop jaws and dazzle crowds during the TLC (Tables, Ladders, Chairs) matches.

Currently, Jeff is with TNA and Matt Hardy still wrestles a solo career in the WWE. Rumors are that Matt will join his brother in TNA soon.

5. Edge & Christian

Edge and Christian, E&C, totally awesome.

When these two weren't making you laugh, they were knocking off all comers in the WWE tag team division to become seven-time tag team champions.

They started off together in the WWE as The Brood, and quickly became a household name as Edge and Christian. They would fued with the Dudley Boyz and The Hardys, competing in many TLC matches along the way.

The famous "con-chair-to" finisher, a double chair shot, was often used by the duo.

Recenlty, they were face-to-face on Smackdown following the 2010 draft that lead to a brawl between the two.

4. The Hart Foundation

Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and his brother in-law Bret "The Hitman" Hart ruled the WWE tag team division for a good three years.

A team that almost didn't come to fruition, eventually turned down by management, became a reality in late 1985.

The Hart Foundation would go on to win the tag team titles on two seperate occasions, fueding with Leigion of Doom, British Bulldogs and The Rockers along the way.

3. Mr. Fuji & Tanaka

Mr. Fuji and Professor Tanaka were a dominant tag team in the 70's.

Beating Sunny King and Cheif Jay Strongbow in 1972, they won their first of three tag team championships between 1972 and 1977.

When the pair held the titles, they didn't want to let them go, holding on to them for a combined 569 days before dropping the titles for the last time to Dino Bravo and Dominic DeNucci.

Their longest run, which happened to be their first, was 337 days, which ranks third on the all-time list of length of WWE World Tag Team Championship reigns.

This tag team isn't as remembered like it should be, but give them the fan base and coverage in todays wrestling world and they would of been one of the best.

2. The Dudley Boyz

The Dudley Boyz, D-Von and Bubba Ray, also known as Team 3D wrestled as a tag team in the WWE for six years.

Currently still together in TNA, they won a record high eight WWE World Tag Team Championships during their WWE career.

A wooden table never became so popular in wrestling as it did when these two got their hands on one. They would win a lot of matches by putting their oppenent through the table, via 3D (finishing move).

During the years, the Dudley's would fued with Edge and Christian and The Hardys.

The years when these three tag teams were going at it, have to be the greatest two-three years in the history of the WWE tag team division.

1. Demolition

"Here comes the Ax, here comes the Smasher, we're Demoltion, walking disaster."

No tag team was more dominant then this pair. Kiss and Rock n' Roll meet turnbuckles and wrestling to create these two.

Ax & Smash are three-time WWE World Tag Team Champions and are the "iron men" of the division. Holding the titles for 698 days, no one even comes close to that number.

During their first run, they would hold the titles for over a year before losing to Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard (Brain Busters).

Part of their success lies on the fact of how long they carried the titles during a rich landscape of tag team talent.

Shortly after WrestleMania VI, Crush (Brian Adams) was added to the tag team as a replacement for Axe due to an illness. Axe soon returned, but Crush remained with Demoliton.

Both original members of the tag team are still alive and well today. However, the third member Crush has passed.
