Wrestling fans are die hard about pro wrestling because its something they view on high regards just like NFL fans or NASCAR fans. People have watched pro wrestling for over a century now because its entertaining and its a fun event to get into on a weekly basis. Fans know that wrestling is a tough industry and that there are backstage politics involved but as time has gone on, wrestling itself has changed and you see women wrestling every week and getting air time but the question that has seemed to come up as of late is this, is women wrestling overrated or underrated?

Women in wrestling has been around for as long as the industry itself but women do not seem to garner the same respect that male wrestlers do on a weekly basis and women seem to be exploited for sex alone in the biz. Women back in the 1980's and 1970's were used just for wrestling and were pioneers like Mae Young and Sensational Sherri. When the 1990's came though, the women were just used as valets for male wrestlers and were even exploited for sex like Sable, Sunny, and Chyna. Women in pro wrestling posed for Playboy and did horrible actions just to get air time for example the whole Trish Status ordeal in 2001. This gal was amazing to look at and she could wrestle but Vince had her bark like a dog and used her for degrading scenes.

TNA has tried to really focus wrestling for the girls by having a competitive knockout's divison for single titles and tag team titles and they even had an entire Impact show just on the knockouts. TNA really prided themselves on women wrestling and really showcased the best like Taylor Wilde, Tara, Awesome Kong, and others but since Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff came into town and proclaimed TNA as Male friendly, the women have once agian been misused in so many ways.

WWE has always had the divas and yea they are eye candy in alot of ways but WWE has seen their share of great women wrestlers like Trish Stratus, Mickie James, Lita, Chyna, and others but today they still dont focus much on the women and there are plenty of great divas on the roster like Maryse, Michelle McCool, Beth Phoenix, Eve, and even Rosa Mendes. WWE however feels like women are somewhat overrated in the ring and cuts their match times in half in order to showcase the males and make the divas matches the unoffical bathroom breaks.

So all in all women are very poorly used in pro wrestling and in sports in general but the question has to go out to all to the wrestling fans, are women overrated or underrated in pro wrestling?
