PHILADELPHIA- The Philadelphia Phillies have reached an agreement with the Oakland Athletics for pitcher Joe Blanton, WIP's Howard Eskin reports.

Blanton is a career .500 pitcher who is 5-12 this season with a 4.96 ERA.

Eskin, a locally renowned and controversial radio hosts, says that the deal was for three Phillies minor leaguers.  Eskin also reports that the Phillies will move Adam Eaton to the bullpen to make room for Blanton in the rotation.

So with the new move, the Phillies' second half rotation looks like this: 1. Hamels 2. Blanton 3. Moyer 4. Kendrick 5. Myers or Happ.

General Manager Pat Gillick hopes that this move helps make the Phillies even stronger.  They hope to make the playoffs for the second year in a row.
