Already looking forward to the upcoming English Premier League, which has set the benchmark in Europe and across the world. With three English clubs playing in the semi-final of Europe's most prestigious tournaments and Manchester United winning the trophy it seems that for the next couple of years, English football will dominate the world.

Sir Alex Ferguson, undoubtedly one of the most experienced and successful managers in the world is on a mission. First, to beat Liverpool's record of 18 league titles and to win the Champions League at least one more time.

Can he do it? Yes he can. Does he have the team? Yes he does.

If you take a closer look at the United team, looking at everything from youth to experience, United has it all. Talent is flowing through the gates of Old Trafford and the eagerness to win and the willingness to stay as champions is so transparent in players such as Ryan Giggs and company.

Having won the league for the past two years, winning the European trophy, it's hard to imagine United falling below par this coming season. With Ronaldo's and Anderson's absence at the start of the season, and Manchester still looking strong, United will be tested. Can they win and go on without one or two of their stars?

A good test for United will be the upcoming tour to South Africa, one which I am personally looking forward to. It's a chance for thousands of fans to see some of the heroes in action against two of South Africa's giants. Although the likes of the Chiefs and the Pirates can't be compared to United, it will be interesting to see if players are able to gel together.

Younger players will have the opportunity to show their talent while some of the more experienced players will be able to have a run in before what seems to be a heavily contested season ahead.

Looking at the upcoming season, what can I say? It's going to be a "CRACKER" of a season.

With the likes of Chelsea already signing some big names, the Spurs cashing in on a number of talented individuals and some of the smaller clubs also making big purchases, England will be hot this summer.

Let's hope we are not disappointed and may the best club come out on top...

  1. Manchester United is definitely a force to be reckoned with. That's not news to anybody.

But English football dominating the world? No sir. English clubs performing well in European tournaments like the Champions League and the UEFA Cup? Sure.

I believe United will end up in the top 3, but I see a little blue and white ribbons on the trophy this year.

    1. I am in two minds about this...

      - English clubs buying more English players for top prices that would be something to celebrate and be happy about the future of the English game.

      - English domination the question on the continent is what on earth took you so long? If indeed it has arrived and I am not convinced. I would hold out another two/three seasons before domination of Europe can be claimed - be careful on what you build your house on English domination but couldn't qualify for Euro 08 the two somehow don't compute.

      - An English manager coaching one of these great English teams in the great English premiership would be great also.

      - United do not have it all they for me they have no out an out goalscorer if Ronaldo does not put by the same amount of goals the answer does not lie in the current squad as to who would score in his place.

  2. I expect Liverpool to be stronger this year. I can't think of the last time they contended for the title. But I still don't think they'll finish above Chelsea or United. And about Arsenal, i think it's unpredictable. They've sold some key players but I still think they have a good, young squad capable of going the distance. We'll see.
Oh yeah, Spurs aren't going anywhere. Especially if they sell Berbatov.

  3. I think United will be up in the fight for the top until the end, but I see Chealsea winning the title.

  4. United will be strong but I am excited to see what Chelsea can do they had the measure of Man Utd towards the end I felt.

  5. English football will always rule the world as long as rich owners keep splashing out exhorbent amounts of money on transfers. And most of them are foreign, so let's be fair and not call it English football and just call it Football played in England.

  6. United are always at the top and will probebley have a good season but the title will be won in a different way this season. man u may lose ronaldo losing their goal scorer and chelsea may lose lampard and drogba and arsenal have lost hleb and flamini while liverpool have lost nobody. i think the destination of barry will be interesting(arsenal or liverpool).but my tip for the trophey will be arsenal. With some great talent like fabregas ,vela, rvp, nasri etc at the club i think we may just do it.

    1.Arsenal
    2.Liverpool
    3.Man united
    4.Chelsea
    5.Portsmouth
    6.Tottingham
    7.Everton

    1. I really want that to be the case so badly, but I can't see united coming third and chelsea fourth... we will have to keep the faith...and hope that my nightmare from last night doesn't come true..(arsenal lost the first game of the season 5-2, and spurs won 5-1, it was horrible!!)

  7. i might agree wit one or two comments but, the looking "bejamin's" list i dont see arsenal finishing on top...simply because they dont hav a good enough team...yes they have excellent player, and that's all well but i feel if you look at their downfall last season..they jus didnt hav enough players of quality to assist when players got tired...an nw the sales of flamini, hleb, lehman..an maybe adebayor good further put them in trouble....many arsenal fans say samir nasri will make da difference...but you need 11men to win a game....an also Spurs look very strong so sayin they will finish 6th..wel i dont think so i think they will fight for a top 4 position and that makes this season so interesting

    1. spurs ar up and coming but i dont think they look that strong at all. if they lose berbetov and keane they are losing two of their best players and goal scorers, they will have to pray da santos and other strikers fill the spot, witch will not happern... and finaly spurs were suposed to come 4th last season and what happened 37 points behined arsenal.
