If Jerry Jones fires Wade Phillips after this season, it wouldn't be the first time for Jones to make himself look like an idiot.
Take the 1998 draft where he refused to take Randy Moss with the eighth overall pick; since then, Moss has destroyed Dallas every time the Cowboys face off against Moss.
Then there is the bright idea that Jerry knows best! And the hiring of complete puppet head coaches...a lot of good that did you, huh Jerry? One was fired just after his second season, another one was fired after going 5-11 three years in a row, and good 'ole boy Barry rode off into the sunset after doing you a favor back in 1995 taking what was all ready built and giving you Super Bowl win number five.

Now, there is Wade Phillips, who after just one season has no safety net after the season is done, according to some because J. Jones wants Garret to be the head coach.
But how soon we forget that Wade did bring this team to its 13-3 record and its first division title since 1998, despite the fact that Dallas failed to advance past the first round of last year's playoffs.
So, if this is true, once again Jones reflects the negative light on himself and on the Cowboys franchise, going from owner of change to ring leader of a circus that even he can't control.

Jerry will do what he thinks best for the team. Unfortunately, it is the wrong way.
If Wade's history in the playoffs was better, then I don't think this would be an issue. It's hard to keep someone, when the guy below him is making as much money as the head coach. Why do you think Jerry hired Jason Garrett first? He already has him set as head coach for probably next year.
Wade has to see the writing on the wall one way or another. I do hope that this year it will be a different story.

Look we all understand why he hired Garrett in the first place and yes eventually he will take over as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, but why hire Wade as the fall guy? IMO it just makes Jerry look like a complete a-hole and a laughing stock
especially when he allowed bums like Campo to stay on as head coach and we watched as Dallas went 5-11 for 3 years straight, then he hired Parcells who by the way had NO playoff success with the Cowboys
when he was head coach, but was allowed to stick around for 4 years to try and work on it
So my point is that while Wade may not get it done in the post season he deserves the chance to try and get something accomplished after the 09 season, before Jerry tells Wade it's his time to go and J. Jones then introduces Garrett as head coach

I will not argue that Jerry has made some BS coaching changes over the years but
Thing is, Garrett was the hottest assistant this offseason and had his pick of a couple teams.
But Jerry, having seen Sean Pathon take NO to the NFC championship after leaving, and seeing Parcells gut the entire coaching staff it was key to keep Garrett, for the future, but also for this coming season. The last thing we needed was a new O cordinator to ome in and change such an explosive offense.
Parcells did not have any playoff success but he built the team that Wade led to 13-3, Wade turned out to be the perfect guy to follow Bill because he took the hand cuffs off and the team responded. Wade himself has had a bad playoff track record (with some bad luck--Music City Miracle) and was not getting any offers when Jerry came calling, Garrett was not ready but has turned out to be a great offensive coach and hopefully head coach later on. Wade has done a good job but was out coached in the Giants game and the D was the problem last year, which he oversees.
I also agree that Wade should not have to win the SB to come back but that is the NFL and with Garrett's new deal the writing is on the wall.

To me, Garrett still needs some work.
Don't get me wrong, I think Wade should be able to go another year. But unfortunately, his track record in the playoffs say different. So if the Cowboys don't get it done this year, you really think Jerry will keep him on?
I think the Cowboys can get it done this year. As Terrence Newman said on ESPN, "execute and finish"
That would be more interesting, if the Cowboys win the Super Bowl this year, will Jerry be an idiot and put Garrett in as head coach and let Wade "retire" with his only championship?

Garrett needs more than a little work, if every Cowboys fan saw the blitz coming every other play, why couldn't he? Barber wore down after another questionable call starting him for the first time in the playoffs, while he killed in the 1rst half he was dead when we needed him the most.
Garrett is clearly the coach in waiting, but maybe the wait should be a little longer. Besides, once Garrett takes the reigns look for a big name defensive guy to take over the D. If Wade does well in the playoffs this year I think the best thing would be to keep Wade on for one more, but it is not likely, especially if a big name D cordinator comes up in the offseason.

Hottest assistant or not it doesn't mean that Garrett is ready to be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys
especially when Wade hasn't had half a chance yet, besides how big of a idiot does it make Jerry look if
he hires Garrett and Phillips with his next team wins the super bowl?

I agree Garrett is not ready but fact is Wade was not being considered (fair or not) for any other job.
Jerry reached and hit a home run, I hope as you say, he will give Wade enough of a chance to make something happen.
It seems that 2 more years would be fair, seeing as how he was 13-3 when Parcells took the same team 9-7. Thing is with Jerry if we dont make a big move in the playoffs I would guess Wade is done...

I think Jerry is looking beyond the playoffs and hopes that with in the next 2 years his Cowboys are not just super bowl bound, but super bowl winners
