Being a WWE fan, the one thing that I always loved the most was hearing a crowd of thousands erupt when a certain superstar came down to the ring. I know now a days that you don't really hear much a of a pop anymore as majority of the crowd are like stiff boards, but I remember the way the old crowds were, the ones that had people screaming at the top of their lungs. These are MY top 6 WWE/WWF pops of all time.
The story goes that Y2J was in the ring cutting yet another awesome promo about being punished for calling Stephanie a "bargin basement slut". After apparently hearing enough, triple h came down to the ring to defend the honor of his wife. Y2J used HHH's anger against him a challenged him to a WWF Championship match, which HHH accepted. After knocking out Earl Hebner, Jericho went to the top rope only to be knocked off by Shane McMahon. Stephanie then proceeded to take throw the WWF title belt into the ring,Jericho saw it and countered by hitting HHH in the head with the belt. Jericho went for the pin but the ref was still knocked out. HHH pushed Earl Hebner down to the ground and Jericho used this to hit HHH with a spinning heel kick and then hit his trademark lionsault for the win. The crowd reaction was awesome and to this day I'll still don't understand why Vince didn't keep this win official.
In the weeks prior to this event Austin wasn't the same ole rattlesnake that everyone knew and loved, he was instead a mere shadow of his former self. The week before the InVasion, Austin came and helped the WWF fight off the alliance, delivering stunners to nearly every alliance member that was surrounding him, much to the fans delight. This pop is incredible to me because the old Austin can back that night and the fans loved it. I don't know which is better the fans going crazy when the glass broke or JR's commentary while Austin was walking down to the ring.
This match helped cement HHH vs The Rock as one of the best feuds of all time. It also produced not 1 but 2 outstanding pops. The Rock was in match against Triple H for the WWF title, HHH had Vince, Shane, Steph, and McMahons drones in his corner, while The Rock had Austin. When the match started Austin was no where to be found and it looked like Trips was going to retain. Finally after beating the crap outta each other, The Rock was the receiver of an attack at the hands of McMahon. Things looked dim for The Rock until the Texas rattlesnake arrived, raised hell, and left. Triple H tried to hit Rocky with a chair but The Rock countered with a spinebuster which led to the People's Elbow and the pin. This pop is remarkable because not only did the crowd go crazy when Austin's music hit, they went even crazier when The Rock won. Skip to 4:16 mark.
Triple H had been gone since 2001, from a torn quadriceps muscle. After missing the entire Invasion storyline, fans were patiently waiting the for the return of the game. Finally on January 7,2002 Triple H returned after 8 months on the shelf. The reception that Triple H received easily makes his return the best ever.
When the British Bulldog pinned Bret Hart for the IC title, all 80,000 London fans erupted with joy. These match had it all; two great technical wrestlers, a good storyline behind it, a championship on the line, and one hell of a crowd.
Mick Foley was facing The Rock for the WWF title on the January 4, 1999 edition of RAW is WAR. Foley was out of luck as the corporation was out there making sure their corporate champion, The Rock kept the title. When it looked like Foley was going to lose Austin's music hit and everyone in the arena hit the roof. Austins pop was so loud that you could barley hear his entrance music, a rarity in wrestling.
