Anaheim Ducks

Obtained Joakim Lindstrom from Columbus for 2010 pick, and signed Lindstrom.  This was a good move for which Burke did not have to give up too much.  It helps his roster, and gives it a bit of depth.  Grade: A-

Atlanta Thrashers

Signed Jason Williams and Kari Lehtonen.  Jason Williams is a great, young player who will truly help a struggling Atlanta team. Having Lehtonen locked up for a while takes care of a goaltending problem.  Grade: C+

Buffalo Sabres

Signed Daniel Paille.  This is a good signing, as Paille is a very capable player, but Buffalo have not done nearly enough to help themselves this summer.  Grade: C

Chicago Blackhawks

Signed Doug Janik, Aaron Johnson, and Colin Fraser.  These are three young guys who have a lot of potential, but I’m not sure if they will help the Blackhawks out that much.  Grade: A-

Colorado Avalanche

Signed Cody McCormick and Brian Willsie.  Two good signings by the Avalanche.  Grade: A-

Columbus Blue Jackets

Signed Derek Mackenzie, Craig MacDonald, Steve Kelly, Marc Methot, and Alexandre Picard.  These are some great signings by Howson.  Picard is a forward who has really been a bust the past few years, but the other three, from what I hear, have a lot of potential.  The Blue Jackets continue to get their hands on almost everything this summer.  Grade: A-

The Alexandre Picard signed by the blue jackets is not the defensemen by the same name - i believe he may be in the Philly system. Alexandre Picard (jackets) was our number 1 draft pick (8 overall) in the 2004 NHL entry draft. He's been a bust - seen as more of a grinder than a goal scorer now. He sees minimal ice in the NHL

How has JD not done anything big? So what if he hasn't signed HUGE free agents? That isn't what he is about and what the Blues are about. They are building through the draft and young players. Looking at that perspective, JD has done a very good job. First round picks like Patrik Berglund, Ian Cole, David Perron, and Alex Pietrangelo are huge additions to the Blues. Berglund is one of the best prospects in the NHL, that no one knows about. David Perron is turning into a very good young player and could one day be a star in this league. Pietrangelo is a good defenseman whose offensive prowess, along with Erik Johnson could make the Blues defense one of the best in the league.
Yea they haven't made the playoffs in a few years. But JD has gone a long way to ensuring that this team is set for the future. And to say he hasn't done anything since arriving in St. Louis? Lets look at that.
He acquired Brad Boyes from Boston for Dennis Wideman. Brad Boyes just scored 43 goals and is getting better.
Last summer he signed Paul Kariya who had 65 points for the team.
Then, one of his best moves, he moved Keith Tkachuk for some draft picks from Atlanta and then signed him back the following offseason, getting a free 1st round pick.
Got Andy MacDonald for an aging Doug Weight, Michel Birner, and a 7th round pick. MacDonald isn't a huge star but he is a very good centerman. He is only 30.
In 2006 he signed Manny Legace and he has been spectacular for the Blues.
This summer JD acquired Chris Mason from Nashville for a 4th round pick.
I would say that is definitely doing some serious moves since getting to St. Louis. They haven't made noise on the ice but JD is building a team that will make noise on the ice soon and the rest of the NHL better be ready. This team is going to be very good and it all starts with JD. They haven't done much this year in terms of free agency but Davidson is following the same blueprint as Don Maloney is and look what it has done in Phoenix. JD has done alot. Maybe you should look a little more.

I'm with Chris Alan, Davidson is building the team through the draft, hes being patient. It will pay off soon enough.
