The Baltimore Ravens have signed 18th overall 2008 NFL Draft pick Joe Flacco to a five-year contract worth nearly $30 million. The former Delaware quarterback will enter training camp on time to compete for the team’s starting job.
Last year's 18th overall pick, cornerback Leon Hall, signed a five-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals worth $13.6 million, $8.2 million of it guaranteed.
Drafted 18th overall out of Delaware, Flacco is slated to compete for the starting job with Troy Smith and Kyle Boller. Rookies, quarterbacks, and injured veterans are scheduled to training camp on Monday at McDaniel College in Westminster.

The Ravens have been burning for a decent quarterback for some time now, and their efforts have proven fruitless (having only won a single title since they were the Baltimore Colts). But, that's what draft picks are for: new talent and rebuilding.
Sad to say that the Ravens have been rebuilding since 2000, and many sports pundits --myself included-- don't see much of an end in sight.
But we'll see.
