Just when you thought Mizzou was all set for '08, this news comes in; Mizzou has landed one of the most coveted JUCO's in recent memory. And yes, he'll be in for THIS FALL.

Brian Coulter is a D-End from Pearl River CC in Mississippi. Apparently, he was set to start for Florida State this fall, but something came up about classes and whatever.

He supposedly received offers from LSU, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Florida among others, and turned them down. Instead, our recruiting guru, JP at SMS has him lining up for the Tigers in the fall:

"Brian K Coulter 6`4" 255 DE from Louisiana [...] Coulter had 13 sacks his soph year and runs the forty in the 4.59-4.69 range. FSU people thought he would be able to start for them this year."

Good numbers and measurables have poured gas on the fire that he is rumored to be the second coming of Justin Smith. I'm pretty sure we could find a spot for Godzilla Jr. And get this; he is walking on.

Coulter is a pro prospect, and would line up at D-End in a rotation with Stryker Sulak, Tommy Chavis, Michael Keck, and Chris Earnhardt. If the hype is true, pencil him in to start with Sulak. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

I imagine a scholarship is in the future. Hell, it's probably sitting on the copier right now. GP, send an intern in to pick it up!

Good reporting Matt. I am actually kind of hoping that Coulter redshirts this year because it seems that Sulak and Chavis are pretty much set as starters, and after they graduate the position will need some help for a few years. On a day when Nathan Scheelhaase snubs Mizzou, Coulter makes fans forget.

Redshirt? Not hardly. He only has 2 years to play 2. And yes he will put our defense over the top.

    Hey Peter, it's Ry.
I got to watch Coulter play a bit earleir on this morning. He's still sitting at 90%, or so he says, but he looked like a monster regardless. I think he'll get the start with Stryker easily. The only thing I'm worried about is him staying eligible. He's a hell of a football player, but not the most articulate person I've ever met. I'd definitely call him a pro prospect, and if he has a big year for us I think he might leave school for the pro's believe it or not. Of course, I base that purely off the hype, seeing him play once and the fact that he's not a very acedemic-minded person. Either way, MU will have a really, really good D-line this year, and probably next year too.
