The Top Five WAGS You Won't See at the World Cup

With the World Cup a month away, several aspiring footballers around the globe want to be booking a place on their national sides.

Along with those players are plenty of wives, girlfriends, and fiancées who also wish to spend a month sunning it in South Africa.

Plenty of tabloid column inches are taken up by footballers' wives and girlfriends (also known as "WAGs"), but let’s take a look at the free and single girls who will not be traveling to the World Cup.

5. Alex Curran

Recently spotted without her £75,000 wedding ring, Curran isn’t hiding the fact that her and Liverpool ace Steven Gerrard are going through a marital rough patch.

A Curran spokesperson soon released a statement saying that Curran had lost the ring and that her and Gerrard are just fine.

Well, I guess he won’t be when he finds out she lost a 75-grand ring!

4. Gemma Atkinson

What footballer hasn’t Gemma Atkinson dated...oh, erm, Christiano Ronaldo...well, that was until January this year.

Instead she’s hosting a Saturday night dating show that is said to begin filming around the time of the tournament.

This time last year Mrs. Cole was "fighting for her love," but once again Ashley Cole managed to embarrass his wife, causing her to finally show him the door.

Cheryl has recently moved to L.A. to escape the English paparazzi and media glare.

It’s also handy to point out she’s well over 7,000 miles away from England’s group stage matches, which start in June.

The recent short-term rebound of Manchester City's Wayne Bridge is said to be getting her claws into Christiano Ronaldo.

She realised Ronaldo was earning an extra $150,000 more a week than Bridge and shortly ended the fling with the England left back.

Ronaldo would certainly fit the profile of high-profile sports stars she has been dating, which includes Super Bowl-winning running back Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints.
