WEC 48: How Leonard Garcia and Chan Sung Jung Stole the Show

Tim NgoCorrespondent IApril 25, 2010

The final Spike TV preliminary bout between featherweights Leonard Garcia and Chan Sung Jung served as the perfect lead-in for Saturday night’s “WEC 48 : Aldo vs. Faber” pay-per-view broadcast.

Both lightweights left everything they had inside of the octagon and did exactly what a televised preliminary bout should do, entice fans to shell out $44.95 for the PPV.

Garcia and Jung threw bombs at each other for much of their scrap and got the crowd inside ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California poppin’ for the evening’s featured attraction.

Although Garcia took home a close controversial split decision, Jung won’t go home empty handed as the fight has a good shot at earning “Fight of the Night” honors.

Of course, the lightweight title rematch between Ben Henderson and Donald Cerrone, as well as the main event between Jose Aldo and Urijah Faber for the featherweight belt are still on deck.

If you didn’t watch Garcia vs. Jung, make sure you look online later tonight or catch a replay on television because it was as epic battle.

The word from the arena is that the Fight Night bonuses will be a WEC record, $65,000 each contestant.
