Its Official..Liverpool FC are taking massive steps towards rebuilding their squads (the reserves, U18 and the First team) .With the Managing Director Christian Purslow and the entire LFC management reiterating on Rafa Benitez's long term stay, and with the influx of money through new investors...a real metamorphosis of the Club cannot be really ruled out..although the spine should still remain the same..
By putting the Club up for Sale H & G have in a way made it crystal clear to the world how impotent they are in terms of ability to clear the gigantic debt that they mounted on the club. It all now seems that investors are awaiting the end of the season to declare their stakes at the club. Its almost come down to "Who ?" rather than "When?"..
With Rafa Benitez at the helm and all major players declaring the serious need for re-investment, a few BIG signings would surely come through (it may even be a part of the deal for those who buy the club, to supply that money)..
In the last two years , the Reds fans have witnessed a seemingly lofty, unthinkable heights and dreaded nightmarish lows..with a few Good players coming in, all of that should give way to a more stable and coonsistent performances at the Top most Level.
So lets see, what a likely (best) Reds 15 could like at the start of next season..
With Pepe Reina as the last line of Defence ..this is the one Rare area that Liverpool will have to think little about . The only thoughts may be about whom to back him up with. Reina since his inception at Anfield has been a revelation, undeniably one of Rafa Benitez's best buys..A 6m GBP buy and I would rate him as the best gamble that paid off..Can't think of anybody in that position for the Reds..(especially after his latest contract extension)..
Although some people still doubt his defending prowess, this English Defender and Portsmouth Player of the year in 2008-09 season has been a livewire for the club. His position as a right back (almost wing-back) has given Liverpool an extra option of attack down that flank . As a hard worker and a very honest team player, Johnson's efforts can only improve next season as he fits more into his role and hopefully stays injury-free for most of it. Down the right flank Johnson should be Liverpool's No. 1 choice next season too..
This Dane is still very young, but still has been a great performer for the REDs after his arrival at Merseyside. Arguably the most important defender in his national team, Agger has also found fitness to be a major hurdle to captivating performances this season. However with all that evening out he should still be playing full back for the Reds next Summer onwards..
Truly he has turned into one of the Legends for the club. Although a childhood fan of the most dreaded rivals of the Reds, Everton..Carragher has certainly come a long way. Now in his early 30's he is still considered as one of the pillars of Liverpool's defence.
An epitome of commitment , Jamie Carragher is sure to continue in his position as a centre back for at least the next season, thus adding an extra flavour of experience to the youngsters around him in defence like Agger.
The first of the many possibilities at the left back position for the Reds. With Emiliano Insua tried a little too much this season (due to injury to first choice Aurelio) , it has been clear that the young Red has still a lot to learn in order to be a first choice left back for the Reds.
Its here that Aleksandar Kolarov comes in.. a powerful shooter of the ball, the 24 year old Serb has been really impressive during his last two years at Lazio and has attracted interests from among the best clubs in the world. As from recent reports, Kolarov is really one of the prime targets for the Reds for the Left back position.
Although I must add that, Kolarov should be a part of a really formidable Serbian Line up this Summer WC, and with some impressive performances there , he may be priced too highly, only good enough for a Chelsea or Real Madrid to pounce upon.
In that case, .Jose manuel Vargas of Peru and Fiorentina should be a likely target for the REDs to battle for the Left back position.
The Argentine Captain and surely one of the best Defensive Midfielders in the world, Javier Mascherano is almost sure to make the starting line -up regularly for the Reds in the coming season...
A strong and aggresive character on the field, Masch as he is commomly known by his RED counterparts would be one of the many key players this season who would remain at the Club to inspire it to greater heights.
Although in a recent interview, the Argentine made it clear that he would not end his career at Anfield, but in Argentina, he is just in his mid 20's and should be an integral part of the Liverpool core team for the coming couple of seasons at least if the Anfield club lives upto its expectations in the coming days..
As great a player as Steven Gerrard has been to Liverpool FC for the best part of the last decade, he still is a human, 2009-10 being a proof of that. This season Gerrard has been far from his best but this fan-favorite of Anfield still has his heart and eyes on the trophy that has eluded him so far, the Premier League Champions trophy..Next season he is sure to get another go at his dreams whilst at Liverpool FC..and hopefully winning that he should really transform into a Bigger Legend than what he already has been for the Club carrying it forward on his own for quite sometime now..
A livewire for Spanish attack and an all-time favorite of Rafael Benitez, David Silva has already been spotted as a target for the Reds this summer. Although a few other Big names are also after him and his playing in the WC for spain may just make him a touch more expensive, with new investors at the Club rafa is sure to have a go for this Spanish maestro, who is almost certain to exit Valencia this summer..being good on both the wings as well as a CAM, Silva could well worth the money Liverpool FC choose to spend on him.
If any player from a non-Liverpool club has been very vocal about his interest in playing for the Anfield outfit, no one other than Arda Turan comes to mind..A player full of talent and touted to be a captain of the Turkish outfit in the recent future , Arda Turan is already a player to look out for. Although a highly under-rated player, Turan should really be a great gamble as he would also come a touch cheaper as the world would would be focussing on the WC stars, where players like Turan would not participate..
Clearly Rafa Benitez's buy of the Career at Liverpool FC.Fernando Torres has really made it big here at Liverpool FC and has become a much bigger STAR here at Liverpool FC than what he was before shoring up at Liverpool FC.
The former Atletico Madrid striker has been a goal scoring sensation at Red side of Merseyside and hopefully if he has an injury free season, he should really be the REDs bet upfront as he has been ever since his inception.
It takes no great thinking to see what Liverpool FC missed most this season ..and therefore Rafa will spend BIG on another striker this Summer. As of recent reports, Liverpool FC are already in serious talks with Real Madrid over the plight of Karim Benzema, although Manchester United and a few others seemed interested in the player, this initiative of Liverpool to nab him first as real madrid prepares to offload him and a few others..really should be considered as a challenge the REDs are ready to gamble on...
Although I am naming him as a No.12, I am sure this player would be a regular for the team and an automatic choice for the Reds starting line up..Quite frankly I think Rafa is seriously thinking of Van der vaart because may be he realises that David Silva could be nabbed by Real Madrid who are ready to pay astronomical sums for the player, and since in order to facilitate that they are going to need extra money, they would offload players who are surplus to their requirements...and VDV is just one of those stars..
Van der vaart's style of play is one which would really make him an ideal Liverpool FC player and with him in mid-field., Liverpool's mid field problems could well come to an end..
The foresaid players are surely not all going to force their way into the Starting eleven, they would face stiff competition from established stars at Anfield, which would be a healthy competition..some thing that has been missing for quite sometime at Liverpool FC ...
Among those players would be..the hard working Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez, Martin Skrtel,Lucas (rafa's favorite??), Benayoun & Babel(if the pair stays..which seems unlikely )..
A strong lad from the Belgian outfit , Standard Leige will have to overcome loads of expectations during his stay at Liverpool FC..As a free signing his services would be a big bonus if he comes good...plus he should give solid strength to Liverpool's Bench and also a stiff competition to Torres and anyone who plays upfront (Benzema ,if he comes) for the Striker's position..His skills would already be shown at the world cup coming up, and with some solid displays there, he may well be a force to rexckon with for the Reds upfront next summer onwards..
This Red youngster has already shown that he has what it needs to perform on the BIG stage and should be eased into the side from next season onwards..Kopites Love him...Given some of his recent performances this season for the reserves, it would not at all be surprising if Daniel Pacheco can really be a regular for Liverpool FC for seasons to follow..
Whatever be the ultimate Line Up for the Reds ..Liverpool are sure to go all out for the Premier League Trophy , more tenaciously than ever if they are to miss out on a Champions League spot this time.
and Lastly, all the transfers are just mere speculations and can easily go wrong ..however Liverpool FC will surely go all out for some major changes..come Summer..it surely is going to be a Long Crazy summer transfer season..
