The Miami Dolphins had glaring needs on defense coming into this years draft, and boy did they get some some players!

The Miami Dolphins drafted

  1. Round 1: Jared Odrick (DT) Penn State
  2. Round 2: Koa Misi (OLB) Utah
  3. Round 3: John Jerry (OT) Mississippi
  4. Round 4: A.J. Edds (OLB) Iowa
  5. Round 5: Nolan Carroll (CB) Maryland
  6. Round 5: Reshad Jones (FS/SS) Georgia
  7. Round 7: Chris McCoy (OLB) Middle Tennessee State
  8. Round 7: Austin Spitler (LB) Ohio State
  9. (Also picked up LB Tim Dobbins from the Chargers in a 1st round trade to move down)
Talk about a lot of Linebackers! All of those linebackers can be very helpful in taking the place of Joey Porter. Some great pass rushers and size. I'm sure out of the 5 LB's the Dolphins received a few will be stars! (Also will have fresh backups at LB).

The Miami Dolphins moved up to acquire a 2nd 5th round pick in which they got Reshad Jones who is Safety that can play either Free or Strong. Reshad Jones has received the reputation as a hard hitter. If you look at some highlights, you will see he is a hard hitter who definitely makes big tackles! Watch this guy to get some starts in 2010 and really improving our secondary. He will be competing with Clemons and Culver for the starting position. I think the guy can get the job done!

Miami Dolphins traded down in the first round so they could get back that 2nd round pick they lost when getting Brandon Marshall. They got that 2nd round pick back as well as Jared Odrick in the 1st round. A+ move by the Phins. Getting 2 great players out of the deal. Jared has a motor that will never stop. He will make a huge impact on our Defense Line.

Overall, the Miami Dolphins got some quality players out of the draft improving the Defense drastically.

The Dolphins are now a great contender for the Playoffs and the AFC East Championship. The offseason will be working hard on training the rookies into NFL Players. Watch out for the Dolphins in 2010.
