Jeff Burton in his #31 Caterpillar Chevy for Richard Childress Racing. Burton topped the speed charts @ 48.01 @ 199.467 mph in a practice session that seen one accident that invovled the #39 car of Ryan Newman early in practice. Newman got turned in a pack of cars and hit the inside wall on the backstretch. The team will now go to a backup car and start from the rear on Sunday. Qualifying for the Aarons 499 is set for Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway but a weather front moving thru the area may cause havoc on Saturday and if qualifying is rained out the field will be set by points.
