Bale: Don't Move a Muscle; Sir Alex: Quit Covering for Your Loss
Since the loss of Lennon, Gareth Bale has been a man on fire.
Since the loss of the Premier League, Sir Alex Ferguson has been a man on fire.
It has been no secret that Bale has been running rampant over the last few weeks of the Premier League, and Tottenham's climb back into fourth spot can without question be attributed to his attacking prowess.
He has been creating goals, he has been scoring goals, and even when all energy seems lost, he tracks back to prevent goals.
The 19-year-old is a North London paradox.
Signing for Spurs in early 2007, he was touted to be our next great left back. Since, he is being touted as our next great left winger.
Recording 24 matches without a win for Tottenham, many people began writing him off. Steve Wilson of the Telegraph even sent a calling early last year to Harry Redknapp claiming "there is one obvious solution...don't pick Gareth Bale."
Nice to see the man is eating his words.
Not only is Bale a man to pick, he is a man to start, and with confidence.
But lo and behold, in walks Sir Alex, complete with tiny little red devil on his left shoulder, but what's this? No angel on his right?
Could it be so blatantly obvious that he is attempting a Berbatov as he did the same time last year? Never! It sounds so shameful, doesn't it?
Well, that is the problem with the big clubs, they feel as though every class player belongs to them, and how they go about getting their attention is well, however they want.
Deliberately, and without a moment to spare, they started flooding in, the gossip that is, "Bale to United," "Tottenham's Bale is Man Utd Target," "Utd line up £20 summer bid for Bale."
It is a disgrace. Not just to Tottenham, but to any club who feels preyed upon by the Top four vultures.
Maybe it is Sir Alex's inferiority complex acting up, what with being knocked out of all the cup competitions. (Except winning the Carling Cup, which is looking to be more important than when Tottenham won it. Especially if there is no more silverware!—thanks Dennis!)
Regardless of how the season finishes (and please don't finish with United), the Old Trafford faithful will be demanding signings. The squad, while seemingly capable enough, needs heavy improvement.
I am not one for predictions, nor do I want to jinx the team, but if we come out as hungry as we did last week, it will be quite a game.
I feel we size up well with this United squad. Besides, with the likes of Ledley the Deadly, the Eyebrowed Whiz Kid (Lennon), and the Honduran Hurricane (Palacios) all returning to the fray, we have more depth coming into this game than our previous two.
I'm also tipping Bale to shine. Mostly to entice Fergie into something he cannot have.
Ask Harry yourself, "We're looking to build a team here. We wouldn't be looking to sell players like him. He's the future of the football club."
