Today, the New York Rangers' President and General Manager Glen Sather announced that the club has reached a contractual agreement with left winger Nigel Dawes.
The young winger from Manitoba had been holding out, along with team mate Fred Sjostrom, before reaching a deal with the Rangers today.
No other details have been released but it is believed to be a one year deal worth around a million dollars.
Dawes has played a total of 65 NHL games while registering 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points. He will be a very important part of the team's success next season as he is one of the few wingers that can actually keep up with speedy center Scott Gomez.

By my math they are floating dagerously close to (or over) the Cap. I'm curious what the Fritsche deal is worth - can't be more than Dawes - - but I don't see it being less than a $1 M...
Hopefully the Rangers can see some production out of Drury this season.

good signing by them. and yes, nate, the rangers are very close to the cap. they have about $3 million free, but they still have a few more players to sign

Actually, Sjostrom is the only player they have to re-sign and he wont cost more then a million.

$587,700 for Dawes according to TSN, which I think is a damn good cap number for someone like Dawes. From what I seen of him this year he has good speed, a spark plug like player who can score some goals.
