Throughout World Cup history, there have been many different instances of a player excelling well above his peers to have great success in the World Cup.
From an exciting young player to an older player who still might have something to prove; which is that extra incentive to earn more money.
Now that the World Cup is less than 50 days away, here is my list of the ten young players whose Transfer Value will increase at the World Cup.
No. 10 Neven Subotic (Serbia)
Current Club: Borussia Dortmund
Position: Center Back
Age: 21
Background: The child of two Serbian parents, Neven Subotic was forced to move with his family to Germany at a young age before moving to the United States at the age of 13.
After arriving in the States, Subotic eventually joined the United States residency program as he competed for the USA at the U-17 and U-20 levels.
But after some controversy with the coach of the Under-20 head coach in Thomas Rongen, Subotic decided to leave the USA and joined the Serbian National Team, which he was able to do due to the fact that Subotic never gained a Senior Cap as an American.
Despite having some criticism for his performance after joining Serbia in 2009, Subotic has established himself as a starter as there are rumors that he might move to either Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal or Juventus after the World Cup.
No. 9 Taye Taiwo (Nigeria)
Current Club: Olympique Marseille
Position: Left Back
Age: 25
Background: A young left back that has tons of quality and even more potential, Taye Taiwo has become a rock in the Nigerian defense as he looks to help the Super Eagles towards some World Cup success.
Now that he is 25 years old, this will be the perfect World Cup for the Nigerian to have great success as clubs such as Liverpool and Inter Milan have both already pursued him in the past.
No. 8 Anthony Annan (Ghana)
Current Club: Rosenborg
Position: Defensive Midfielder
Age: 23
Background: A defensive midfielder who is honing his craft in Norway, Anthony Annan is a player that will certainly move away from the Nordic region after the World Cup to England.
Since 2007, Annan has been a key member of Ghana's National Team, and playing with Michael Essien next to him on the National Team could only enhance his image.
Annan has been linked to play with Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham in the past, and there is a great chance that he could land with any of these sides later in the summer transfer window.
No. 7 Gervinho (Ivory Coast)
Current Club: Lille
Positions: Striker, Right Winger and Attacking Midfielder
Age: 23 (at World Cup)
Background: Given a Brazilian nickname from his time back at the ASEC Abidjan youth academy, Gervinho is a young player that could become a superstar as a result of this World Cup.
During his career, Gervinho has played in Belgium and France for the last five years, but has continued to reiterate that he wants to move to Arsenal. But no matter what, playing with Didier Drogba in the World Cup will only help out Gervinho overall in his career.
No. 6 Eljero Elia (Netherlands)
Current Club: Hamburg
Position: Winger or Striker
Age: 23
Background: Considered to be the next big thing in Dutch football, Eljero Ella has started to gain more time with the Dutch National Team as of late.
Overall, Ella brings tons of speed and loves to attack with the football, which has always been a major policy that the Dutch have employed. Ella will most likely come off the bench in this World Cup with the Dutch all but securing who the starters will be at the wing, but with a club such as Liverpool pursuing him, Ella can only help his stock at the World Cup.
No.5 Yoann Gourcuff (France)
Current Club: Bordeaux
Position: Attacking Midfielder
Age: 23
Background: Considered to be the "next Zidane" by some French fans, Yoann Gourcuff has been a player that has really made a major difference for Bordeaux over the last two years, and has found himself as a constant starter on the French National Team.
With his role of attacking midfielder, Gourcuff will have a great World Cup, and this will be huge for sides such as Manchester United and Arsenal, both of which are interested in the young Frenchman.
No. 4 Nicolas Otamendi (Argentina)
Current Club: Vélez Sársfield
Position: Defender
Age: 22
Background: An emerging player on the Argentine National Team, Nicolas Otamendi is a player that will get significant time in the World Cup as he will move closer to making a move to Europe.
In the World Cup, Otamendi will certainly be a key cog in Diego Maradona's side as they look to succeed in South Africa. Already, Otamendi has been linked to moves to Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Fiorentina.
No. 3 Angel Di Maria (Argentina)
Current Club: Benefica
Position: Left Wing
Age: 22
Background: The person who scored the game-winning goal in the Gold Medal game between Argentina and Nigeria in the 2008 Olympics, Angel Di Maria has become a player that has thrived with Benefica as of late.
Since the 2008 Olympics, Di Maria has continued to prove himself to be an elite player, and as the World Cup approaches, he will certainly get lots of playing time for Diego Maradona and will certainly up his transfer value for clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea, who are all trying to get their hands on Di Maria.
No. 2 Mesut Ozil (Germany)
Current Club: Werder Breman
Position: Attacking midfielder and Winger
Age: 21
Background: The young player that helped Germany to win the European Under-21 Championship last year, Mesut Ozil has since become a primary starter on the German National Team.
With the World Cup coming up, Ozil will most likely get some key minutes to play for Germany in the World Cup. This will help his transfer value as sides such as Arsenal, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City look to pick him up.
No. 1 Hugo Lloris (France)
Current Club: Lyon
Position: Goalkeeper
Age: 23
Background: The starting keeper for the French National Team and considered to be the next big thing in International Football, Hugo Lloris will be playing for France throughout the World Cup.
Lloris really emerged onto the international stage after his great goalkeeping helped France to get to the World Cup, and has had an incredible season at Lyon as they have reached the Champions League semifinals for the first time in their history.
Now in this World Cup, there will be many rumors to where Lloris might go, as Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have all pursued him in the past, but he will have a great World Cup.
