Beleaguered ex-Manchester City striker Georgios Samaras has made a permanent move to SPL side Celtic. The 23-year-old Greek international joined City for £6 million in January 2006 yet failed to find his niche with the Premiership club.
Also from the Manchester City front, boss Mark Hughes will move his attention toward acquiring several more players to bolster the squad now that the tabled £25.5 million offer for Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho looks unlikely to be accepted.
In Serie A news, Juventus has signed Danish midfielder
Christian Poulsen from Sevilla to a four-year contract. The transfer cost the Italian club £7.8 million. In La Liga transfer action, Getafe added former Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero. Granero was on loan at Getafe, but now the move has been made permanent.
From the land of transfer rumors:
Aston Villa has made a bid for Blackburn’s top player—England international David Bentley.
Keeping with Villa, boss Martin O’Neill revealed that Arsenal have hinted they may enter a formal bid for midfielder Gareth Barry.
Staying with the Gunners, it looks like Russian superstar Andrei Arshavin’s agent remarked that the player may favor a move to the club mainly due to Arsene Wenger’s influence. The playmaker also fancies the club’s attacking-football philosophy.
And finally, 19-year-old defender Robbie Threlfall could make a loan move away from Anfield for part or all of this upcoming season as Liverpool looks to get this talented youngster some first-team experience.

There was no room for Granero with Madrid for this coming season. But they do have a clause that says they can buy him back and I would not be surprised if they took advantage of it down the line. Granero will be a star.
