Backup QB Kellen Clemens on the New York Jets' Trading Block
Busy day for the New York Football Jets.
First, there was a report that they were trying to trade three veteran players—one that was shot down pretty quickly by coach Rex Ryan:
“Whatever. Nice report. ... I’m not going to speculate on somebody throwing out a story with no validity.”

Then, NY finally reeled in linebacker Jason Taylor—11 days after the whirlwind tour—to a two-year contract.
Now, they’re trying to get rid of their backup quarterback.
Rich Cimini, writing for ESPNNewYork, stated the Jets are shopping Kellen Clemens in hopes of reeling in a late-round pick in exchange. Cimini also notes getting rid of him now means they are “confident” they can land a veteran QB as a backup.
With Mark Sanchez looking like the real deal, Clemens has no shot at a starting job and may want to go to a team that’d give him a chance to start. Only problem is no team would consider him for their starting position at QB. Not even the Raiders.
Clemens hasn’t shown much since being drafted in 2006 to be the Jets' next franchise quarterback. He has major happy feet and looks timid in the pocket. Not what you want leading the offense. If they could wrangle a fifth or sixth round pick for him, it’d be a steal.
