The Players Arsene Wenger and Arsenal Need To Add This Summer

Arsene Wenger has done a great job over the years. It is imperative to state that he has, within constrained means, managed to retain a position in Europe's Elite.
A pointer is the massive amount of cash spent by teams like Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspurs, Manchester City, and some other clubs trying to catch up with the likes of Arsenal.
It is also true that Wenger needs to add a bit of weight to his ever improving squad by picking up some players who can bring in a freshness or experience required for him to reap the fruit of his building process.
This article seeks to identify a few players whose qualities and similarities to the system Wenger has built would boost his squad and hopefully help win some silverware in a year or two.
I would try to identify two players for each position that require new personnel and hope, like many Gunner faithfuls, that the gaffer picks one and adds them to the squad over the summer.
Goalkeeper One: HUGO LORIS
Hugo Loris almost needs no introduction. A great acquisition for Lyon last summer, he has not only been impressive in the UEFA Champions Leauge, but he will be the Custodian of the French Goal at this summer's World Cup.
An excellent shot-stopper, great handling, and huge in one-on-on situations, it is not known exactly how he will fair in a league where the high ball and Delap missiles are dominant, but when you see a great goalkeeper, you know it and this young man is one.
He might come at a huge cost, but given that Lyon are interested in Eduardo Da Silva, some sort of swap cannot be ruled out.
Whatever Wenger spends to get his man, you can just tell it would be worth it.
Goalkeeper Two: SEBASTIEN FREY
The man who naturally should be the French No.1, but was ignored and sidelined by the national team coach.
In his thirties, and a very experienced goaltender, he is the perfect foil for any good defense. Great shot-stopper, and dependent in times of defensive crisis.
If Arsene is looking for not just experience but a man who can be the difference in big games, this is one who he can put his money on. It is also important to note that due to his retirement from International football, the fear of him picking up injuries is minimized.
Center Back One: SIMON KJAER
Strong, quick, intelligent, and hard to get past, Simon is a classic case of tomorrow's defender playing today.
At 21, he would be one to watch at the World Cup with Denmark, and his performances with Palermo are usually a joy to watch. Always tight on his man, he is one for the clean tackle and rarely loses concentration in games.
His age means he would not come cheap in today's market, but for whatever amount he is purchased, he would be around for many years.
Center Back Two: NALDO
I had to put a lot of thought into considering whether to put up a picture of this man scoring a sting of a goal on a free-kick or putting in a tackle, but since he is a center back, it's only fair to put up the one with the tackle.
Brazilian, tall, good in the air when defending or attacking, great free-kick taking ability, calm and steady under pressure, quick, and experienced (and these are just a mention of a few of his qualities).
In the event that William Gallas decides not to renew his contract, this is the man that should be brought in to replace him. He won't need long to settle in and would bring steel to the back and also provide options on set pieces.
Coming from Germany where the game is played hard would also suit his teammates as he can get stuck in when needed. He would be a fantastic pair with the Verminator.
Defensive Midfielder One: BLAISE MATUIDI
Blaise is not just a tough tackling midfielder, he is also very adept at playing the deep lying midfielder.
Strong on the ball, he can pick a pass, change the pattern of the game, inter-change positions, and charge down the channels into space. He is one of those that have been likened to Patrick Viera, but he is his own man.
A good foil for Alexander Song, Matuidi would bring his aerial ability to the fore. Arsene has already tried once to get him, and it should not be long before he tries again.
Defensive Midfielder Two: MOUSSA SISSOKO
He plays as a box-to-box midfielder capable of playing in either the holding role or as an attacker. His playing style and ability have drawn comparisons with the Malian international Mahamadou Diarra and fellow French international Patrick Viera.
He has a knack for scoring goals, and I personally consider him to be a player in the mold of Essien. He has a couple of National team caps for France, and at 20-years-old in central midfield is no mean slate.
He would be a good buy and there is no doubt that with his talent, Arsene can turn him to a world-beater.
Attacking Midfielder One: ANGEL DI MARIA
Talk to anyone about great young talent and this name is one that will spring up quickly these days.
A beautiful left-foot and the ability to play anywhere upfront, he is a direct player with both an eye for a goal and a quick thinking playmaker.
The top clubs in Europe have an eye for him, so it would be a tough one to pick him up, but who knows?
Attacking Midfielder Two: EDEN HAZARD
A quick look at the picture of this amazing talent and you'll get the idea. Small in frame, but if you are looking for a Ronaldo-type player, who doesn't want to go to ground, but rather make those twice his age look stupid, he is your man.
Fleet footed, intelligent, good shot, and yes, he is ordained by the great Zinedine Zidane and a future great!
He would trouble any defender, and run all day, but unlike Theo Walcott, he seems to know when to stop and put in the pass.
Center Forward One: OSCAR CARDOZO
His goals against Liverpool in the Europa League quarterfinals allude to the fact that he is a man who can score by many means.
A striker who scores free-kicks, is great with his head, is sure to dispatch a penalty kick, has quick feet, can beat his man and has an eye for a pass, Cardozo is one who should be any manager's dream buy.
He is no shy customer, and would trouble any center back with his size and leap, plus he would contribute to the team's work, even on a day when the ball just won't get into the net off his feet.
He is also the Europa League's top scorer for this season.
Center Forward Two: MAROUANE CHAMAKH
He is free, and the type of point man Arsenal needs. Enough said!!!!
