What makes professional sports so great in this country? The fact that, no matter who is supposed to be dominant, any team can shock the world at any time. Its the same thing that made this great nation great. Its that the toughest competitor can win. Sure the little guy takes it on the chin; the biggest, strongest, and fastest usually dominate. And their is always new competition and veterans looking to make a fresh start.
The Chicago Bears have made some big moves over the last couple of off-seasons and still have yet to address some positions that were in need before this off-season. Despite what some coaches might lead us to believe, it appears the identity of the team may be changing.
This is a look at some of the players who could have an impact in a season where no one really seems to expect too much out of a team that may be loaded with talent, but at too many of the same positions, or not enough at some other positions. Lets go!

Have the Injuries Taken Their Toll on Tommie Harris

Tommie Harris is still one of the more feared defensive tackles in the NFL. That's when he's in the game of course. Even injured he usually commands a double team. Their is competition at that position, though. Tommie Harris has someone on the line that requires a double team as much as he does now.
This may be the opportunity #91 needs to return to pro bowl form. With other play makers out there, the energy that Harris brings will make him a force this year. I can see Tommie Harris having a great 2010.

Chester Taylor, under appreciated, certainly validated

Chester Taylor may have been a very capable starter for most NFL teams. The Chicago Bears have three very capable tail backs in Chester Taylor, Matt Forte, and Kahlil Bell, but Chester Taylor is the only one of this trio that is proven. His career numbers look impressive, especially for the back up role he's played.
If he is not the starter in 2010, he should still make a huge impact. When he is brought in for a change of pace, he has the skill to bust a run wide open and into the secondary. Barring any unforeseen health issues, the Bears may be set in the backfield if they get any help from that offensive line. Look for Chester Taylor to be a refreshing surprise and a great addition.

Julius Peppers Should Be Great

Peppers may be one of the more obvious choices in this article but this is about who is most likely to have a great season. If Lovie Smith and Rod Marinelli can motivate Julius Peppers to work hard, there is no doubt he will be a terror all season. Some have questioned his work ethic or something to that effect. Peppers seemed to imply he's been waiting for a place like Chicago to make his name among the greats. This could be the time.

Can Zack Bowman Be The Man

93223456

Zack Bowman seems to have a knack for the ball, as some players do. There is no denying that he has a knack for the big play. I guess the issue is if he can stay with the better receivers. Bowman led this team far and away with 6 interceptions in 2010.
With Tillman on one side and Zack Bowman on the other, they should be able to cover most receivers, and with an improved pass rush I look for even more turn-overs forced from these two. Bowman can really be a difference maker with teams already aware of Tillman's abilities. Can Zack Bowman have even more interceptions and big plays this season? He has the potential to be great.

Johnny Knox, Did Anyone See That One Coming?

96361157

Well only Greg Olsen hauled in more touch downs than this rookie did last season for the blue and orange. Johnny Knox brought a level of excitement and intensity that is needed to win that the Bears seemed to lack all to much in 09. He looked absolutely fearless as he burned by most defenders and earned the Bears lone pro bowl appearance.
Its apparent that the kid has star potential. Its also becoming obvious this organization doesn't always seem to see what looks so obvious at times. Knox could be deadly in the slot or split out wide. I just hope the Bears find a way to show case his talents correctly. Johnny Knox may be poised to have the biggest season on this offense.
