The 2010 NFL Draft is only three days away and fans are swarming to the latest news, information, and mock draft predictions on their designated teams.
Part nine of this series continues with the Seattle Seahawks, as I uncover the first three rounds, team-by-team, before the draft opens its highly anticipated doors. Enjoy.
Round 1, Pick 9—Brian Bulaga, OT, Iowa
The Seahawks have many needs to address and will look to move around during the entire draft. They start the trading process with Detroit, moving three seats down, and receiving the Lions' third round pick (via Buffalo) and fourth round pick as compensation for the first round flop.
Bryan Bulaga’s stock ranges from 5th to 20th. He’s extremely mobile for his massive frame. He’s also very smart, athletic, and physical, and has the versatility to hold off both power rushers and speed guys in a growing 3-4 scheme. A great pick for the Seahawks.
Round 1, Pick 14—Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, USF
After an essential O-Line upgrade, the Seahawks repair the other side of the line.
Despite a lack of experience, Jason Pierre-Paul is a very raw player, plays with a non-stop motor, and eludes blocks with ease.
He’s very explosive off the edge, and will make a significant difference in the Seahawks’ defensive front.
Round 2, Pick 28—Joe McKnight, RB, USC
Seattle finds excellent value near the bottom of the second round with a Reggie Bush clone. Joe McKnight is an excellent returner and superb complimentary receiver out of the backfield.
He has great balance, remarkable speed, and sensational leaping ability. Furthermore, he has tons of heart and passion for the game, and was coached by no other than Pete Carroll.
Round 3, Pick 8—Morgan Burnett, S, Georgia Tech
The Seahawks find another great steal, revamping their secondary with a hard-hitting truck with loads of horsepower in safety Morgan Burnett.
Burnett has very good instincts and the versatility to play at either safety position. He’s inconsistent at times, but he’s a reliable tackler, a terrific ballhawk, and an immediate starter.
Next to Come
With seven picks remaining, the Seahawks will soar across the boards in search of mending their team to be a tough competitor.
On offense, they’ll look to tight ends Anthony McCoy and Ed Dickson, QB Mike Kafka, and WR Dezmon Briscoe.
On defense, they’ll gaze at linebackers A.J. Edds and Kion Wilson, defensive tackles Cam Thomas and Aurthur Jones, and cornerback Jerome Murphy.
