Top Six Moves The Golden State Warriors Should Make

GoBears 2008Jul 15, 2008

It's been quite an off-season so far for Golden State: The Baron opt-out, losing out on Brand, signing Maggette...All this coming in what could be Nelson's last year. But Mullen can't be done yet, can he? Here are some trades/signings to shake the roster up even further.

6) Trade Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson to Portland for Martell Webster, Brandon Roy, Greg Oden, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Sergio Rodriguez.

Pros:

New NBA Mock Draft 📝

  • Warriors dominate the league for the next 10 years.
  • The league office can't reject the trade if the salaries match, can they?

Cons:

  • Portland might not want to make this trade.
  • Nellie doesn't like young players not named Monta, would probably bench everyone except for Oden, who looks like he's Nelson's age.

5) Dump as much salary as possible, then offer LeBron a max contract in 2010, plus the head coaching and GM position if he wants them.

Pros:

  • We'd have LeBron.

Cons:

  • He'd probably trade himself to L.A., Chicago, or New York for a second-round pick and "future considerations."

4) Trade Brandon Wright for J.J. Redick.

Pros:

  • Ever since the Warriors traded Mike Dunleavy, they have lacked a soft, overrated "shooter".
  • With an extra piece or two, we might also be able to pick up Adonal Foyle.

Cons:

  • We might lose 95% of our season ticket holders.
  • We might not have the leftover pieces necessary to trade for Darko.

3) Trade Stephen Jackson and Kosta Perovic to Memphis for Javaris Crittenton, Darko Milicic, and a couple of first-round picks.

Pros:

  • We'd get a point guard and cap space down the road.
  • Captain Jack was a good Warrior, but we have Monta at SG and tons of SFs, and we really need a point guard.
  • We'd have Darko!

Cons:

  • This trade might actually make sense (somewhat).
  • We'd have Darko!

2) Resign Monta and Biedrins, and trade them with Maggette and Harrington to the Celtics for Leon Powe.

Pros:

  • The Show is back in Oak-Town!
  • With Brand in the East, Boston might be hard-pressed to win all their games next season. With a line-up of Monta, Allen, Pierce, Garnett, and Beidrins, with Maggette and Jackson off the bench, look out 72-win season record!
  • Minnesota doesn't really have anyone left to give away to Boston. Maybe a three-way deal involving Al Jefferson and Kevin Love for Scalabrine?
  • We'd have enough cap space to sign the entire 2010 free agent class.
  • We'd be guaranteed a high lottery pick for the next 10 years, and could select the very finest under-weight tweener projects.

Cons:

  • The Arena would be empty as the Warriors descend to a nadir (even for them), and no free agent ever wants to set foot in Oakland again.
  • The trade could be deemed too one-sided, incurring the wrath of every other team in the league for all-time.
  • The salaries don't match up too well.

1) Trade Corey Maggette (plus someone else to even out the salaries) to the Clippers for Baron Davis.

Enough said.
