Even losing today to Brian Matusz and the Orioles today, the A’s still have 2.5 game lead in the AL West, the largest lead of any first place team.  The A’s are having a good start, indeed, even if they are only four games above .500 at 9-5.

I don’t feel as bad as I might, after today’s loss to the Dodgers.  I only the turned the game on after Manny’s big blow, so it’s easier for me to be philosophic about it.

At least Zito pitched well, which is important.  The Giants are going to win and lose their share of 2-1 ball games this year, and it won’t be the last time Manny (while he may not be what he once was) beats a team a ballgame.

If Zito continues to pitch well, the Giants will win their share of those games.

Of the teams that I root for to at least some degree, the A’s, Giants and Twins are all in first place.  Now, if only the Cubs would get hot.
