According to various tweets and a WBIR.com report , sophomore safety Darren Myles Jr. was arrested early Sunday morning for a misdemeanor. The athletic department hasn't fully disclosed what happened.
The Knoxville PD hasn't commented on the situation, but some message boards say it was underage drinking. Also, Clay Travis from Fanhouse, said on his Twitter that " now [Tennessee] players get arrested at sushi restaurants driving Priuses." This is a tongue in cheek opposite of last year's arrest outside a gas station in a rented car which led to the dismissal of promising wide receiver NuKeese Richardson
However, Derek Dooley did give the media a quote. He was "disappointed" in Myles and wants to investigate the misdemeanor before taking any disciplinary action. This shows that Dooley cares about Tennessee's reputation and wants to make sure the Vols' players are good citizens in the community.
Myles played very well in the spring game, intercepting Matt Simms on a long pass just before half time. He could have challenged for a starting safety job, at the very least backing up Janzen Jackson. Hopefully, Coach Dooley will sort this all out before summer practice, and Darren isn't in too much trouble so he can help out a thin Vols secondary.
