Now just four days away, the 2010 NFL Draft is inching closer and fans are swarming to the latest news, information, and mock draft predictions on their designated teams.

It's time to uncover the first three rounds, team-by-team, before the draft opens its highly anticipated doors.  Part four of this series continues with the Washington Redskins .

Round 1, Pick 4—Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State

With Chris Samuels retiring, the Redskins must restore the offensive line.  The monstrous Russell Okung , who didn’t allow a single sack last season, gives Donovan McNabb the protection and visibility to be effective.

Okung is a step ahead of Trent Williams due to his charismatic abilities in run blocking and recognizing blitzes.  McNabb will now feel more at ease, finding the many young receivers he has now in his arsenal.

Verse of this piece

“Do not be shaped by the world; instead be changed within by a new way of thinking.  Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect. —Romans 12:2

Round 2, Pick 7—Linval Joseph, DT, East Carolina

Coming into the draft, the Redskins only have four draft picks, and only one in the top 100.  Washington makes a bold move, sending unhappy QB Jason Campbell and DT Albert Haynesworth to the Raiders in exchange of the 37th pick overall.

Discarding unwanted influences and distractions in the locker room is beneficial and ultimately worth the trade.  Washington continues to flex, stretching a little to pick up DT Linval Joseph.

Joseph has a huge frame and great upper body strength.  He’ll need to improve on his pass rush, but he gets a strong push off the snap, wraps up when tackling, clogs the middle, and is an excellent fit in the Redskins’ new 3-4 system.
