Here's a slide of the most dominant players in sports today. All of these stars are in the top tier of athletes in major sports. These are the players currently etching their names in sports history. When all is said and done these are the guys that will be considered the best athletes of our era in sports.

LeBron James

LeBron James is an all around monster on the court. He does it all. He shoots, he drives into the paint and he plays defense. Kobe Bryant may have held this title for a while but LeBron looks like he can just score at will. I think Melo is the best pure scorer in the NBA, but LeBron is the best all around basketball player. Before you shake your head and post a comment claiming Kobe carries the crown consider this, Cleveland has the best record in basket ball this year 61-21. How many wins do you think the Cavs would have without LeBron? You can't make the claim that the Lakers aren't stacked this year, they could probably make it past the first round without Kobe. LeBron also fills seats every night, he's a showman and he's very good at it. He's an icon known and loved around the world. Fans love him and his teammates love him. How good of a teammate is Kobe? Will he be considered a great leader when his career is over? Probably not. The biggest knock on LeBron is that he hasn't won a championship. LeBron is 25, he still has time. However its way too early to compare hi to Michael Jordan who won his first title at 28. If LeBron every wants to be mixed into that conversation, he still has a lot of catching up to do. But right now LeBron James is the best in basketball, he can take control of a game at any moment.

Sidney Crosby

Sidney Crosby has been anointed the next "great one." No matter how many people try to make the argument that he is not the best player in the NHL, he just keeps making plays. He is a winner. He will not except losing and when the game is on the line he always wants the puck. His clutch shot against the US to win gold for Canada was pure Crosby. He was invisible throughout the whole series, but when it mattered he came through. He has 66 points in 50 playoff games. His resume consists of a Rocket Richard Trophy, an Art Ross Trophy, a Lester B. Pearson Award, a Hart Memorial Trophy, an NHL all-star team, and an All-Rookie team, and a Mark Messier Leadership Award. Oh yea and not to mention a gold medal and a Stanley Cup. He is 22 years old and will be considered the best in hockey for a long long time.

Albert Pujols

Albert Pujols will go down as one of the greatest players to ever play baseball, he's that good. At 30 years old he has over 1,700 hits, over 370 HRs, and over 1,100 RBI. When you talk about the dominance Albert Pujols has had in the majors you're talking about a guy who's never hit below .314, never hit fewer than 32 homers, never drove in fewer than 103 runs, and never finished out of the Top 10 in the MVP balloting. He has done this all without using steroids which has tainted some of leagues great players. His numbers are mind boggling, they're like something out of a video game. On average he hits about 40 HRs a year and the scariest part is that his best is yet to come.

Peyton Manning

96191305

This one is a no-brainer. At 33 years old Peyton Manning is already considered the best QB of all time by many. His leadership skills are uncanny and his knack for fourth quarter combacks make every football fan sit on the edge of their seat. Some people believe Tom Brady is the better quarter back because he has three Super Bowls and he was a fifth round pick while Manning was first overall. Tom Brady is a great quarterback, but he didn't win all those Super Bowls alone. New England has always had a tough defense with Belichick at the wheel. Peyton Manning won his only Super Bowl with the 32nd ranked run defense. Having a bad defense put all the pressure on an offense led by Peyton Manning. But he carried them to the Super Bowl on his back anyway. He did the same thing last year, taking a team with the worst running game in the league to the Super Bowl. Although they lost to a determined New Orleans Saints team its pretty hard to win football games when you're a one dimensional football team. However no matter what the circumstances are the Colts always seem to come out on top. This is all because they are led by the smartest QB in football. Bottom line is that Peyton Manning wins football games. In his 12 season in the NFL, he has led his Colts to eight season of 12 wins or more wins. Think about that before you try to debate Peyton's dominance in the NFL.
