News emerged today that the Steelers have had talks internally with regards to potential trades involving their franchise quarterback.
As a Steeler fan, it almost feels treasonous to discuss trading Ben Roethlisberger, but the Steelers have shown zero tolerance for players with poor off-field behavior.
Further, if Ben were to be implicated in any further transgression, the Steelers would have let him go at a bargain price.
Mike Tolmin is of the opinion that Dennis Dixon could be a starting quarterback in the NFL, thus making Roethislberger mildly expendable.
Ben Roethlisberger to the Bills
The Bills are in desperate need of a quarterback, more specifically, a cold weather quarterback.
The recent additions by teams within their division will inspire Buffalo to make a splash of their own.
Ralph Wilson has shown a willingness to spend money to create a winning product. The Bills would be willing to trade anyone on their current roster to land Big Ben.
Potential Trade:
Ben Roethisberger to the Bills
Jairus Byrd and second round selection(41st) to the Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger to the Raiders
Would Al Davis be willing to part with his 2010 first round selection?
The Raiders have a good running game, they have a good receiving corps, all they need is a quarterback.
With Brandon Marshall leaving the Broncos, the Raiders could be in a position to compete for the division, but only if they land Big Ben.
The Raiders have two assets in which the Steelers would be interested, Nnamdi Asomugha or their eighth overall selection in 2010.
Potential Trade(s):
Ben Roethlisberger and third round selection(82) to the Raiders
First round selection(8) to the Steelers
OR
Ben Roethlisberger to the Raiders
Nnamdi Asomugha and fourth round selection(106) to the Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger to the 49ers
The Steelers are in the market for a wideout.
The 49ers are in the market for a quarterback.
Can they make a deal?
Mike Singletary may disagree with Ben Roethlisberger's recent off-field behavior, but he'll love his on-field behavior.
Michael Crabtree had a productive 11 games with San Fransisco, but his preseason holdout may have created irreparable damage with the 49er faithful.
Potential Trade:
Ben Roethlisberger and fifth round selection(155) to the 49ers
Michael Crabtree and third round selection(79) to the Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger to the Panthers
The Steelers are always in the market for a new pass rusher and based on the Panthers current depth chart, Everette Brown may be the only player of interest.
It seems as though the Panthers are the only team sold on Matt Moore, but given the opertunity, I'm sure they could find playing time for Ben Roethlisberger.
In losing Julius Peppers, the Panthers lost the face of their franchise. Big Ben would put them back on the map and back in the national spotlight.
Potential Trade:
Ben Roethlisberger to the Panthers
Everette Brown and second round pick(48) to the Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger to the Seahawks
When considering Pete Carroll-type quarterbacks, Ben Roethlisberger doesn't exactly come to mind.
That said, given the opportunity, Ben is a major upgrade from Charlie Whitehurst.
If Pete Carroll wants to make an immediate impact in Seattle, he'll need more security at quarterback.
The Seahawks have the luxury of two first round picks. They could use one to address their need for quarterback protection, with the other, they could land someone worthy of protecting.
Potential trade:
Ben Roethlisberger and fourth round selection(116) to Seahawks
First round selection(17) to the Steelers
