After their relegation because of the Calciopoli scandal two seasons ago, Juventus won Serie B. In their first year back in Serie A, Juventus finished third, behind champions Inter and runners-up Roma. Next season, Juventus want to compete.
They have signed Poulsen, who joined fellow Juventus signees Olof Mellberg, 18-year-old Swedish attacking midfielder Albin Ekdal, defender Dario Knezevic, and Brazilian striker Amauri.
Juve have also brought back Sebastian Giovinco and Claudio Marchisio, who were both on loan with Empoli, and bought the other half of defender Paolo De Ceglie's co-owned contract from Siena.
However, Juve manager Claudio Ranieri has told the press that, after signing Poulsen, he has closed the checkbook. The Bianconeri fans are unhappy with Ranieri's moves in the transfer market, and feel that the squad is not good enough to challenge for the Serie A.
The club's fans have critcized the club's signings and tagged them as "rubbish."
Some believe that the signings have left the club's squad trailing behind Inter's magic; Juventus will play in the Champions League next season, and if they are to seriously challenge for the greatest prize in European club football, they should have major stars.
Do they?
And with Jose Mourinho about to strike three to five deals for major stars, Juventus will undoubtedly trail behind the Milan club in terms of star players, players who are at the peak of their playing career.
Although Ranieri said that he would like to sign Inter's Serbian midfielder, the Old Lady's interest in Dejan Stankovic has clearly cooled since the club's fans held campaigns against signing the ex-Lazio man.
What Juve will do now, is sign a goalkeeper. Rumors suggest that Francisco Antonioli will move to Juventus and be second to Gianluigi Buffon.
The Juventus board and fans want the team to be serious contenders for the Serie A next season:
- Can Juventus challenge in Serie A? Can they be better than Inter, AC Milan and Roma?
- Is Juventus good enough as they are to please the board of the club and their huge universal fanbase?
- Who do you think Juve should buy or should have bought?
- Will Ranieri be able to keep his job until the end of next season?
- Should they have approached Marcello Lippi, Gianluca Zambrotta and Fabio Cannavaro for a return to the club?
- Where are the weak points and the powerful points in the Juve squad?

I don't believe Juventus will challenge for the title, and a top-four spot could be in doubt. The signings they are making aren't representative of those made by a team with big aspirations. I question the Amauri signing as I think they should've gone for a younger attacker.
As far as who they should buy, I'm getting the sense that money is a problem. I think Guiza would've been a nice signing, and Alonso was a guy they right to approach. If they had the money, Quaresma would be the type I'd recommend to Juve.
As long as they have Buffon, they'll be good. But that's not an intimidating squad at all.

Thanks for your comment.
i think they can finish second, maybe. not win the serie A. i think they should have bought alonso and van der vaart. i was surprised to hear ranieri say "no more transfers!"... because everyone can clearly see that they need more quality players

Fans will always ask for big names but the current hierarchy won't go out and sign the big name that people want. They will settle for the likes of Poulsen or Mellberg.

That relegation has put them back four or five years and it will be that long until they can topple Inter and AC Milan and Roma. They wil be back just not this year...

hi im a juve fan. i think that juve has a pretty bad defence especially compared to what hey used to have (zambrotta, cannavaro, thuram etc) i think if they had players like that they would do really well. and also central midfielders like vieira and emerson but our wingers and strikers are good. i also only think amauri was our only good signing.

Personally, the transfer period has sent mixed messages. They bring back Giovinco and Marchisio and get Amauri, yet go out and sign Poulsen.
As Marc said, the relegation to Serie B has definitely set Juve back a few years, especially financially. Even though they still bring in a lot of dough, Juve's position in the transfer market has fallen and now it's Inter or Milan who is the top choice to go in Italy.

I M A JUVE FAN.. AND I BELIEVE THAT WE ARE A STRONG CONTENDERS FOR THE LEAGUE!!!
OVIOUSLY LAST SEASON WE DID REALLY WELL.. WE BEAT ALL THE TOP TEAMS.. AND WE HAD REACHED OUR OBJECTIVES! THIS YEAR THE TEAM IS STRONGER.. WITH THE SIGNINGS OF AMAURI, MELLBERG, POULSEN, GIOVINCO AND MUCH MORE! THIS IS WHY I BELIEVE THAT THIS YEAR WE CAN DO IT. I AM VERY MUCH AWARE THAT THE OTHER CLUBS HAD STRENTENED THEIR SQUADS AS WELL... BUT IF WE PLAY AS A TEAM WE CAN BE REALLY GOOD. BUTTTT.. I THINK THAT WE REALLY NEED A FULLBACK INSTEAD OF MOLINARO. GROSSO WILL BE IDEAL! I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO SE A BIG NAME COMING.. LIKE DIEGO, QUARESMA OR VAN DER VAART!
FORZA JUVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.. PER SEMPRE
