Trading Roethlisberger: A New Era for the Steelers.

Some people believe that one of the options with Big Ben at the moment is to trade him away and get rid of the connection to controversy and speculation.

Without Roethlisberger if traded BEFORE the draft could propose the question will the Steelers take a QB in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd round? Could the likes of Tim Tebow, Dan Lefavour or Tony Pike start appearing on potential draft boards for the Steelers?

And then would a drafted QB start? Or would Dennis Dixon be leading the franchise for the 2010 season , who showed in Week 12 that he can throw the ball for the Steelers but also scramble and run with the ball in the which led to a TD.

Dixon posted 12/26 for 145 yards, a Touchdown and an Interception. Scrambling from 3 attempts he managed 27 yards and a touchdown. Do these stats show enough potential to be a leading quarterback of a team?

A similar example to this is Aaron Rodgers who shadowed Brett Favre one of the greatest quarterbacks ever for 3 seasons. After Favre left, Rodgers was put forward to take the control of the Packers and has now turned out to be one of the better QB’s in the League today.

I think what is most likely to happen if Roethlisberger left the Steelers would be for Dixon to lead the Steelers and draft for a #2 QB. However this is all speculation and I consider the likeliness of the Steelers trading away Big Ben is very small. But I could always be wrong.
