What's that saying from the Spiderman movies again? Oh yeah: "With great power comes great responsibility."

Well, they should have one for NHL stars that goes something like, "With great talent come really hot girls!"

Yes, it is true in all pro sports—along with the fame and fortune there come, of course...the women.

Lately, it seems that hockey players are becoming targets for sexy Hollywood starlets, which is putting the game even more on the map and the front cover of People magazine.

With that being said, I decided to take a look and rank my top 10 hockey girlfriends from past and present.

With gathering my info for this article, I began to really regret not trying harder at all those 6 a.m. practises back in the day. I also began to regret the fact that since my Calgary Flames didn't make the playoffs, I have nothing better to write about.

Honorable Mention: Niki Taylor

But hey, with a nickname like the "Polish Prince," chicks would have to dig ya!

What did former New York Ranger Ron Duguay ever do that was so great in his hockey career?

Oh yeah, he married supermodel Kim Alexis—and had great hair.

Duguay scored 620 points over his 860-game career, but his biggest score was landing the former Revlon poster girl. Seriously though, if he didn't look like a rock star and marry a model, would anyone even remember the retired NHL center?

Oh well, with Kim Alexis to come home to every night, why would he even care?

Along with having a cannon of a shot, Edmonton Oilers defenseman Sheldon Souray's wife Angelica Bridges is also on fire.

The sexy redhead was given a pictorial spread in Playboy magazine's November 2001 issue and graced the cover.

Sure, the Oilers had a horrible season, but with the chance Angelica or Mike Comrie's girlfriend Hilary Duff may be at the game, is it any wonder they continued to sell out Rexall Place?

8. Emma Andersson

Henrik Zetterberg may be the closest thing to a Hollywood star that the NHL has to offer. He is a Steve McQueen on skates.

So it isn't any wonder that he hooked a gorgeous Swede in Emma Andersson, whose claim to fame was being one of the contestants on television's Expedition Robinson in 2001.

The only thing I can't figure out is, if you had this waiting at home, why on earth would you want to play three more months of hockey?

If you ask me, the Red Wings should have tanked it this season. I mean, they've been to the Stanley Cup Final the last two years.

But I digress, as I am a Calgary fan.

7. Carrie Underwood

It has often been said that behind ever great man lies a great woman, and that was definitely the case in Ottawa this season, as Mike Fisher put up career-best numbers.

Never underestimate the power of love, especially when it comes from a talented beauty such as Carrie Underwood.

Not to get all sentimental (once again I've had a few pops), but if she isn't a good enough reason to root for the Sens, I don't know what is.

There is a reason she was voted "top spouse" amongst NHL players.

6. Gena Lee Nolin

For anyone that was a fan of The Price is Right and Baywatch, you have spent many hours drooling over Gena Lee Nolin, I'm sure.

Lucky former Flame defenseman Cale Hulse married the uber-sexy blonde.

Sure, he only put up 95 points in 619 NHL games, but he also had 1,000 penalty minutes, proving hot girls like tough guys as much as scorers.

Way to score when it really counts, Cale!

5. Veronica Varekova

She landed the most coveted cover of all—the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition—and fellow Czech Petr Nedved landed her.

Along with being a stone cold fox, she has also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and is a Goodwill Ambassador to the African Wildlife Foundation. Veronica is also a patron volunteer at the SZPD Orphanage in her home town of Olomouc, a role she has held for over five years.

So my big question is...how the heck did Nedved score this Victoria's Secret model that should be a princess in some enchanted kingdom far, far away?

Okay, so it wasn't good enough that Mark Messier was a phenomenal hockey player and an icon in New York. He also dated Madonna and No. 4 on my list, Tyra Banks.

Personally, Tyra's cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition is my all-time favorite, and the first magazine I hid under my pillow.

For you kids out there, this is reason enough to start getting good at the game of hockey. If you don't think so, at least one of the next three on the list should persuade you further.

3. Elisha Cuthbert

Elisha Cuthbert has dated Sean Avery, Mike Komisarek, and now her new beau Dion Phaneuf.

We fell in love with her in the movie Old School and adored her in The Girl Next Door.

You wonder why Phaneuf never smiles?

Because everybody wants to get with his girlfriend.

Leafs fans have two reasons to cheer for the fact they poached Dion out of Calgary. Who cares if they finished 30-38-14? Cuthbert is worth renewing season tickets.

To think, if Jarret Stoll wasn't shipped out of Edmonton, Rachel Hunter would have been a part of a trio of hot girlfriends that already included Angelica Bridges and Hilary Duff. That's if they hadn't broken up.
