It came to my attention via the Saturday (July 12th) Toronto Star that Kris Draper (once again) brought the Stanley Cup to his neighbourhood in the Greater Toronto Area.  I read the article because it is interesting to me what the NHL players do with their day with the hallowed trophy since I will never be able to get to spend such a long time with it.

Of course players drink out of it.  That is a must!!  Some have played a fun game of road hockey where winner "gets" Lord Stanley's Cup.  Others have taken it to a hospital or nursing home to brighten the days of those in an otherwise sad situation.  There are players who have even taken it to McDonalds.

However, as I read the article, I found out near the end that during his time with the Cup, Kris Draper's (I am assuming) new-born (ish) daughter took a poo in the Stanley Cup.  I quote from the article:

"A week after we won it, I had my newborn daughter in there and she pooped in the Cup," said Draper. "That was something. We had a pretty good laugh."

Why was she allowed to be in the Stanley Cup without a diaper on???!?!!!!  They had a "pretty good laugh" about it.  Why is this funny??!??!?!!!  I do not find this funny.  I know, according to the saying that *%it happens, but in the Stanley Cup??  Why??  I don't think that I am putting the most recognized trophy in all of professional sports on a pedestal or treating it like it is the holy grail or anything, but come on!!  It is the most recognized trophy in all of professional sports!!  Where was the handler - the guy with the white gloves??  I hope that he got replaced by someone else who would not let this happen again.

After reading about this incident, I can only assume that not too many players will be drinking out of the Stanley Cup anymore.  I know I will never look at it the same again.
