NFL Trade Rumors: Players Who Should Get Traded or Cut, Pre-NFL Draft

As the 2010 NFL Draft approaches, teams are looking to make deals to acquire more draft picks since this draft class is deeper than in previous years (doesn't it seem like we say that every year?).
With a deep draft class comes quality players well into the fourth and fifth rounds.
Some NFL teams have a player on their roster that should be traded, but won't since they value him highly for some known or unknown reasons.
Without a salary cap in 2010, teams can even dump players if they want and not have to worry about any type of cap hit involved as in past years with a cap in place.
So the following (in no particular order) are several players that should get dumped or traded by their respective team since there is no salary cap penalty in doing so this season.
Shaun Rogers, DL, Cleveland Browns
Rogers was a force for the the Browns in 2008 when he not only dominated opposing offensive lineman, but blocked three field goals as well.
Sadly, he decided to bring a loaded gun to Cleveland-Hopkins Airport and got busted.
He says "he forgot" the gun was in his carry-on bag, but he still got slapped with the fourth degree felony charge.
Obviously, the Browns cannot move Rogers until his legal issues are resolved, but then look for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to hand down a good sized suspension and maybe a fine on Rogers too.
It would be in the best interest of the Browns to move on without Rogers as soon as they can trade him for peanuts (or any draft pick they can get), but that is if a team would even want to take of Rogers' huge contract too.
This may be a case of just getting cut.
JaMarcus Russell, QB, Oakland Raiders
Raiders owner Al Davis love his "physical specimen" type players and Russell fits that mold, but his play has been far from that of a No. 1 overall draft pick.
Davis may be very attached to Russell, and his value may be next to nothing, but moving on without Russell should be the Raiders' plan.
Unfortunately, Russell is another player with a hefty contract and unless another team wants that burden of paying him a ton of cash, he too should just get cut instead.
Steven Jackson, RB, St. Louis Rams
Jackson is easily one of the only playmakers on the Rams' roster, but he still offers a good deal of value too.
If the Rams decided to move on without Jackson, they could get more than one draft pick out of the deal, which they can use to add to the many holes that still exist on their roster.
Will they do it? Probably not.
Have they considered trading Jackson? I would have to venture a guess and say yes.
Reggie Bush, RB, New Orleans Saints
Bush's $8 million that he will make in 2010 is incredibly insane considering the fact that he really doesn't produce to that type of pay, but his value is also in being a decoy to dictate defenses to focus on him since he has playmaking ability.
The Saints were rumored to cut Bush and move on without him after the Super Bowl, but then they said they will keep him on board.
Yes, that type of money will make it hard to trade Bush, but I know one coach who might be willing to sacrifice the pay to get back together with his former running back from college:
Pete Carroll.
Braylon Edwards, WR, New York Jets
Edwards never played to the caliber that was expected of him when he arrived in New York in the first half of the 2009 season.
He has some bad habits, lack of focus, and the drops that did not stop once he arrived from Cleveland.
So what does this tell you?
That even a change of venue cannot help him since it is more of a mental issue while being in the games.
After leaving Cleveland, their locker room improved dramatically without the presence of Edwards and the Jets may not have an issue now. But why risk it when they have so much going for them going into the 2010 season?
LenDale White, RB, Tennessee Titans
After having some weight issues, White came into the 2009 season in the best shape of his life, but only to get upstaged by a 2,000 yard season by fellow running back Chris Johnson.
White was hardly used and he could easily be starting for several other NFL teams right now.
Trading White may not be in the cards since the Titans will probably run Johnson less this season, but they could get a third round pick for White, which would help them rebuild their defensive line that got torn apart this offseason.
Aaron Schobel, DE, Buffalo Bills
The Bills have a new coach and front office personnel which usually leads to gutting the team and starting over fresh.
Schobel has been one of the few solid contributors on their defense, which means he still has value and trading him for a pick or two to help fill in the puzzle pieces via the draft might be a smarter choice for the long-term.
Is there a player you think should be on this list?
How about Vick?
